I dunno, but something about rollerblading has always seemed goofy to me. Maybe it's the fact that grabbing a different part of your boot or turning your foot another direction equals a new trick.

Honestly though I will give respect to those dudes hucking themselves down 50 stair handrails, but the bottom line is rollerblading just lacks some of the finesse and style that skateboarding has.

Now for a joke:

Q: What's the hardest thing about rollerblading?

A: Telling your dad you're gay.

exactly...

im assuming this post was made in regards to my post in recent purchases.

i really dont understand the hate towards rollerblading, its the same as skateboarding, its JUST a sport.

Arlo Eisenberg. that is why there is no love for bladers in the skateboard industry. when aggresive inline hit its peak rollerbladers got big heads and egos and arlo in particular starting spouting a bunch of shit about skating and how inline was taking it to the next level and skating was dead and skatboarding sucked blah blah blah. well skaters dont take kindly to that stuff especially coming from a sport that would not exist without us. it would be like skating talking about how surfing sucks and its dead. surfers would not be pleased. rollerbladers gave no props to skating. a new sport is fine but give credit where its due. they never did.

it became a huge industry wide mutual hatred. fast forward a few years, the rollerblade fad dies down and guess what? we remember. that hate is still ingrained. and there are ALOT more of us. besides 'bladers dont seem to understand any kind of skatepark etiquette, over wax everything, have a tendancy to display undue bravado and pride whenever they land a trick (often exclaiming "yes!!!hell ya!" after particularly unspectacular grind) and seemingly have no sense of style at all. having said that ive known a few guys who bladed who were cool.

sure, the basics on rollerblades are harder than skateboards, but hey, look at the shit rollerbladers are doing..WAY more ballsy than skateboarders. the longest grind on a skateboard is what, like 20 feet? rollerbladers are doing rails that are like over 600 feet long. skateboarders say rollerblading is so easy. you try it, sure, i bet you can skate around find and maybe jump, but try actually doing tricks..

the highlighted portion proves our point that blading is easier. the fact that longer grinds are more common is because it is easier to do. not easy. just easier. your feet are attached for christsakes! in high school a freind of mine took up blading around the same time i was learning to ollie. within a few months he was clearing 6 foot gaps over bushes while i was proud just to clear a curb. and i was skating everyday while he was pretty casual. its cool. its just a lot easier when all you have to do to get air is lift your feet. im not saying some of the tricks they do arent amazing (ive been known to watch the 'bladers on the ole youtube. parkour too.) but the reason the tricks are taken so much further is because it is easier. skateboarding requires so much more precision. i watched the video of that 600 foot rail. if a skater wobbled like that he would eat it. and how much wax did he need? and see how he looks and the camera while throwing up the horns like that? eh.

skateboarding is harder. plain and simple. i dont see how you could deny that.

i used to skateboard before i rollerbladed so i can talk from both ends.

rollerblading just gets no love cause its not as huge and mainstream as skateboarding is, unfortunately. i think most people just hate on rollerblading because thats the cool thing to do...give me a good reason why you actually dont like rollerblading. what makes it different than any other sport? pelase, tell me.

read the above. like i said blame the 'bladers who talked trash back in the day, stop waxing shit so much, get an identity, stop wearing sweatpants, and acknowledge that your sport would not exist without ours and its all good.

i'm not picking sides, but coming from a former skateboarder that played ice hockey ---> inline hockey (but never "agressive inline") i'd offer my opinion that a rail is a rail regardless of instrument you use to ride it. It takes balls either way because you know if you bite it, IT'S GOING TO FUCKING HURT. I went to snowboarding afterwards and still had friends that refused to do rails b/c of skateboarding.
