Cancun

I'm going to Cancun next month for a wedding, and I was wondering if anyone here had any good recommendations of some cool places to hang out?

I'm looking for something not touristy, like some local cafes, art galleries, boutiques....etc.

you really have to get out of the hotel zone to see the real cancun. i was taken around by a friend, but i honestly don't remember all the places i went. there really isn't that much that isn't touristy since the entire city's main source of income is tourism.

if you head south to the city of playa del carmen, its much more digestable. its still touristy but its a nice place to stroll around. and its well worth it to go to tulum where the mayan ruins are. there's a small beach at the base of the cliffs where the structures are. it's beautiful.
