I believe those are dyed with a combination of natural and synthetic, otherwise they wouldn't be 'okinawas'

my okinawas have gone into retirement. they do not produce the best "crease fades" (crotch, honeycombs, etc.), but they do have wonderful vertical fades. and the denim is extraordinary.

These have had a long strange trip. I bought them last November at Self Edge, they've been across the country with me three times, and i love em to death. I have alternated between these, my Flat Head 3003's and KMW 1980's, with the Flat Heads getting the most love followed by these. The color is amazing. The pictures dont do them justice.

Two cold washes. First after about 2.5 months. Second after 4 months.

From my experience with them, the Okinawas form very nice whiskers/lap fades and vertical fades. Not so much for the honeycombs.
