haha i am still unsure about what i really want. usually for all my jeans, i require a hem to 31inches before soak. however, they do not provide any chainstitch hemming services, hence im still struggling with that fact and also how i can get it hemmed. i will order a pair, just not sure which one as well! also, last night demonito emailed me and he pointed out that the measurement chart for the S400 is actually that of the R400. i think they didnt realise they put up the wrong measurement chart, hence the cutting could be entirely different..

i think they should be approximately the same. most of their cuts are cut quite similar.

btw some of the stitchings (on the backpocket say) look very similar to fullcount's (fine thread, high stitch count) and the denim on the 17oz s400 looks pretty similar to the made in china fc war model bikers edition. does red cloud make fc's made in china jeans? the blog does have some posts of miki-san visiting the red cloud crew.

I emailed the guy today. Gunna see if he'll take pity on a laowai and custom a couple of pair for me. For 750 yuan it's the best deal in town.

Speaking of which...so I'm bummed that I lost out on that last pair of 403s in a size 31 but I'd be interested in the other cuts if only I could see fit pics. Gregornz, there was obviously a taper on your 403s right? Which of the other cuts have a slim taper? I can't quite tell from their descriptions.

I think the 31's will be OK, actually I prob could have gone a 31 in the 403's too. I'm a big believer that the amount jeans shrink they also stretch.

The S400 size 31 is only 2cm smaller in the waist and the arse than the 33 403. It's 1cm bigger in the thigh. I could have gone for a 32, which is the same waist size as the 33 403's, but I can afford to lose a cm or two, so I'm keen to use that to slim down the legs. The major decision here was about the inseam, because the S400 size 31 is 89cm, while the 32 is 93cm. That's quite a bit to lose, but I think it should be OK, as, again, the 403's a bit long - with some of my slimmer shoes they drag on the ground if they're not cuffed.

Anyway, the S400's should arrive today, so all will be revealed! I'll remember to take proper measurements pre-soak this time, and have some photos up later in the day!

Just to inform anyone who is interested in buying. ..

some model ie. 436 have measurements that are already accounted for shrinkage. (as stated in Chinese under the description) I don't know how true it is... But I suggest you to read if not translate before buying, in order to get the correct size.

And also those that have dramatic shrinkage 1.5"< usually will expand at least 1" after many wears. My advice is don't size down too much.

Well, the S400's arrived.

My first impression is that there is a lot of difference in the denim colour. The S400's are a real classic levi's type shade, quite light blue and lots of white coming through. A real classic colour. Whereas the 403s's are much deeper blue, not really classic blue-jeans blue.

My first thought was that the S400's are going to be beautiful after a fade!

These are really going to test my stretch-more-than-shrink theory. I put them on dry and they are 110% perfectly my size - not tight around the waist, but zero room to lose. So, they are soaking now, if/when they shrink, they are going to have to stretch again to fit.

As you can see from the pictures below, they are quite straight. I actually really like the cut. They are incredibly tight in the arse. It' a weird sensation. You know the normal look for guys, the straight-down-flat-no-arse look? Well, if you like that look, these are not the jeans for you! If you've got tight buns and want to impress the ladies however, I'd say these are the right pair.
