Who makes the best hoodies?

Recommended Posts

Perhaps it's backlash against all the media and marketing out there, but I tend to be a little cynical when their marketing material gets quoted pretty much verbatim as a reason for why they are what they are.

From what I've heard on the forums, they are a pretty nice-sounding product.

I apologize if I've offended.

Hey Kane,

As I've said in the other SF, it's unfair to compare Loopwheeler and Spruce/W+H hoodies. They have fundamentally different aesthetics sensibilities. From the limited experience I've had with Loopwheeler hoodies (I've only seen several, compared to a couple dozen different Spruce ones of various colors and designs from several seasons), the appeal is in the material rather than the design. The designs a pretty generic, imo, perhaps intentionally so. The classic shape and fit allows the wearer to focus on the material, which is really quite exceptional. The appeal of Spruce/W+H hoodies, on the other hand, is in the design and construction (including choice of trims). Everything is generally well conceived, and always well executed, and the look is a modern and streamlined version of classic, rather than pure classic. The material is nice, but it's not as interesting texturally as the Loopwheeler sweat material.

All in all, I prefer the CYC designed and manufactured hoodies, but that is a personal choice. Actually, I am really feeling the thermal lined Engineered Garments hoodies, who are this year straddling the line between the modern (CYC) and classic (loopwheeler) hoodies quite well. However, they are designers, not manufacturers...

Anyone know if Acronym is making any hoodies nowadays? I also hear Rick Owens pulls off some nice hoodies, anyone seem them at all?

I've seen some of the Drkshow hoodies, which look similar to stuff from past seasons. Slim, drapey, lots of faded black, and brown with black. Oversized hoods. Typical Rick Owens expensive as hell goth inspired stuff.
