PowerHaus is proud to invite you to Rational Youth, the inauguration of a new collaborative mission which aims to develop a new visual infrastructure in Montreal’s art and fashion community. Composed of Melissa Matos and Lenny Pier Ramos, PowerHaus is an art and fashion oriented collective, who work in unison to produce a line of wearable artwork. Having already worked with emerging photographers and artists, they now present Rational Youth, an exhibition incorporating several of PowerHaus` aspirators and contributors on a local and international platform. As curators of Plaza 902- a newly established multi-media studio housed in the infamous Fashion Plaza- Matos and Ramos are confronting the audience once again with their monochromatic aestheticism by showcasing large-scale photocopies of images designed by the invited artists.

“We are interested in collaborating with other fashion forward designers with a clear and sophisticated vision. “ says Ramos, the male half of PowerHaus. “ By working with other artists, we desire to expose and develop concepts through our website. The idea of forming a community always highly fascinated us.â€

Contrasting the lack of opportunities for young designers in the Montreal scene, PowerHaus sets out to open a window, using their website (www.wearepowerhaus.com) and events as a tools to communicate their fervour and aesthetic vision, as well as allowing their contributors to do the same. “Rational Youth is a celebration of this feeling,†says Matos.

PowerHaus has been noted in international online fashion forums and coined “future stars in fashion†by San Francisco based magazine SOMA. The opening party, to be held on Friday, May 19th 2006, from 7 to 11 pm at Plaza 902, 5455 DeGaspé, suite 902. Work by invited artists and designers, including :

PowerHaus est fier de vous inviter à Rational Youth, l’événement inaugurateur d’une nouvelle collaboration ayant comme mission de développer une nouvelle infrastructure sur la scène des arts et de la mode à Montréal. Composé de Melissa Matos et de Lenny Pier Ramos, PowerHaus est un collectif oeuvrant dans les milieux des arts visuels et de la mode et qui unit leurs efforts pour produire une ligne d’accessoires ayant la qualité d’œuvres d’art . Ayant déjà travaillé avec d’autres artistes et photographes émergeants, PowerHaus présente maintenant Rational Youth, une exposition collective qui inclut le travail de plusieurs de leurs contributeurs ainsi que d’artistes provenant de la scène locale ainsi qu’internationale et qui sont pour eux une inspiration. En tant que curateurs de la Plaza 902, un studio multimédia récemment établi dans l’infâme Fashion Plaza, Matos et Ramos vont confronter à nouveau le public à leur esthétisme monochromatique en présentant des photocopies grand format d’images désignées par les artistes invités.
