Do they got an Aardvarks on the east coast?

History lesson.

The original "suka-jans" reached the States during the end of WW2 when the

US troops who were stationed in Japan brought back these jackets as souvenirs.

They have all these sterotypical "Asian" animals on them cuz thats what sold well

to the troops. They were made soley for the troops and were made from everything

from satin to left over parashutes.

Tour jackets were something that were inspired by the "suka-jans".

nice saru,

now, close to every military base, you can find places that can create suka-jans. they can make any kind of custom design for you, and i think it must be cheaper than buying them from a retail store. when i go back to okinawa, i will have a few of them made....

Good info on the History Lesson. In the Navy,"my father in law" said that they were called "Tour" (as in tour of duty) jackets because they would have all the places that they sailed to embroidered on them which follows the military theme. Not to be mistaken with the common rocker tour jacket with performance dates and places on them.
