why are all shoes vulcaniced soles nowadays?

why are there no decent original skate shoe designs nowadays? All of 'em seem to be a bite of a classic or hype shoe...

what's up with the lack of narrower boards on the market nowadays? Used to looooooooooove the 7.5's when I had the budget of a deck a week...

anyone get me an antihero pocket T?

1. Vulcanized soles. Are you sure you're not talking about gum soles? Every shoe company started knocking off Vans about 5 years ago and they all switched to gum soles because 1. They grip better and 2. They bend better and 3. You don't have to stitch them onto the upper. Less stitching = less stitching to tear.

2. The funny thing is that the most popular shoes in skateboarding are reissues of models that were out in the 70s. Like I said...almost every shoe company has knocked off Vans so they have their own little version of the Skate Hi the Skate mid, the Era, the Chukka, Half Chuck, etc.

Lakai, Emerica, Es, Circa...all have about 6 models that look suspiciously like old Vans era/skat hi. They're functional. Sometimes the best skate shoes aren't skate shoes at all but if you want a thin sole where you can feel your board, you want a Vans type thin gum sole.

3. Like everything else in skating, shapes and sizes come and go in trends. In the past 3 years, boards have slowly gotten bigger to accommodate what skaters want. Most people feel with an 8 board, you have some weight down there for bigger shit but it's small enough to still flip and control without being too bulky. Whereas 7.5 was standard 10 years ago, 8+ is standard right now. Different generations, different preferences. Most people started out on 10" plus in the 80s and that's when most of the modern tricks were developed anyway. J. Lee 360 flip on a 10" board? Absolutely no problem.

4. There are still plenty of 7.5"s out there to choose from. They're not too hard to find. Even most shops offer shop decks in sizes from 7.5 - 8.5 if they know what they're doing. But try an 8" and you'll find there's not much difference at all and, in fact, if you have a shoe size of 10 and up, you'll likely find you get better control after you get used to it.

5. Anti-hero pocket t: absolutely not but you can still find the eagle tee at any good skateshop and they recently teamed up with girl to do a project called beauty and the beast that you should look up if you're into anti-hero.
