We have some bad news...and we have some good news. Bad news first: We won't be able to make the December 21st start date. This is mainly because the contest leather patches with the new die won't be ready in time to let Simone send out the jeans as planned. If he pushes the shipping further back, we will interfere with the crazy amounts of packages during Christmas and thus the risk of delays or lost packages might go up. We don't want to risk this. This is also a reason we think January 1st (new year, new jeans) won't work as well. Good news: We found the perfect alternative start date...*drum roll*... January 17th! As you all probably know, January 17th is the Italian "World Pizza Day" (https://www.gruppouna.it/en/magazine/world-pizza-day#:~:text=World Pizza Day is celebrated,Neapolitan tradition and ancient customs.) So which day would be more appropriate?!15 points

Really tempted by these Hinoya exclusive 1941 DSB model despite owning the CSF 1941 model already. I need another pair of bucklebacks like l need a hole in the head. Luckily l'm a bit skint atm and when l do finally get round to having a bit of disposable income, they will probably be sold out in my size 😁8 points

Bummer about the delay but no worries, new expected start date is the day before my wife's due date. Should be a fun contest!5 points

Well, since we only need to add another 25 spots, I would be happy if people DM me their city (you choose your proximity to your nearest city, of course) and I can add them to that map. I can take a screenshot of it at the end, and we could add it to one of the first posts on the new thread?5 points

Ok, here goes. SDA SD-100, W36 Gold standard™ method Waist, flat, aligned, pulled a bit but not overly : 17" Top thigh, full width : 13" Thigh at 3" from crotch : 12" Leg at 13" : 9.5" Front rise : 11.5" Back rise : 16¼" Inseam : 33" Hem : 8.5" So, more or less as described it would seem, half way between the SD-108 and the SD-101. They aren't exactly what I would consider tapered, if anything I would say 'regular straight' to borrow the term we see across some brands. The measurements are near perfect for me - I anticipate the waist giving up an inch or so (it needs to ), but the top block overall is good, the rise is perfect, neither too low nor overly high. I would perhaps shave a half inch off the knee and hem and give it to the thigh for a more truly tapered cut, but these will do me the next few years at any rate. Pics to follow to show measurements.4 points

At that time many RRL boots, also the engineers, were made by Julian. Yes, very nice.1 point

@indigoeagle Hey, after a machine wash/dry, I got the following shrinkage: Pre-Wash/Post-Wash Waist: 38"/35.75" Thigh: 13.75"/13.5" Inseam: 32"/30.5" Leg Opening: 9.25"/8.75" Pretty glad that the waist and inseam shrunk the way they did, they were feeling way too big on me. The rest of the leg has a nicer silhouette now as well.1 point

Completing the collection, decided to go with a wide model from Phigvel, the 301. I have the black model and now have the indigo denim model coming in. I like wide model pants based on my build.1 point

People wax poetic about jeans holding stories and memories and blah blah blah, but you need people in your life to make those memories in the first place1 point

Trying to think of the appropriate response. I’m not great at internet subtext and sarcasm. Anyways, as much as I love pants, cool people are way better than cool pants.1 point

Sewing machines are pretty complicated, and small changes can have strong effects on how stitching turns out. The tensioning (and, correspondingly, the thread gauge) plays a big role. The whole reason we see the particular style of roping that we’re used to is an imbalance in how the top and bottom feeds pull the fabric—and the operator has quite a bit of control over how strong of an effect this is. Paying enough attention, it’s not too difficult to get a fairly even stitch out of a 43200G, or to get good roping with the straight stitch on a modern home machine. The folder also plays a big role; standard folders came in at least a few sizes, and I’m sure bigger factories had plenty more machined in-house, some of which resulted in very different hems than others.1 point
