  1. Halloween party last night. Paris, Texas became one of me and my girlfriend's favorite movies when we watched it after someone posted stills of it in the iconic denim photos thread.

  2. 1933 jacket... bought one-wash... and not washed by me yet... the lighting isn't great... the denim is darker and richer than it appears in the photos... slowly slowly developing character

  6. @Broark asked for a comparison of the 1922 denim so here are some shots. 1922 top, 1937 middle, wwii on the bottom.

  7. A couple more recent purchases. Rick Owens high top Ramones in stone coated denim. Super comfortable, feel more like boots on foot. I like the side zip for convenience. New Balance x Kith 990v4. Been on a big NB kick the last couple of years. Honestly I didn't expect to win these when I entered the raffle.

  9. I think Duke's mentioned before that the "standard" denim is dyed different shades of blue depending on year?

  10. You know you're old when your repros of vintage have become vintage themselves 🥴 Right there with you @paulm, it's not a dig

  11. Gave the 1922 freewheelers a wash and dryer today. Looking like straight up vintage jeans 🔥

  13. I think the 506XX ‘22 is new denim - not the same as the 601XX ‘22

  14. ^ '22 (jacket) and '37 jeans are the same denim developed specifically in recent years; 47 (jeans) denim is the FW 'standard' denim which is different Note, from the posts following later, that the '22 jeans are in 'standard' denim.

  16. Just realized that today marks 2 years since I got these and wow natural indigo is stubborn! Not exact 1873 SDA repro. You can see some minor fading in the crotch and it’s kinda cool how there’s some fading where the back pocket should be. Took em out of the dryer like 5 minutes ago, so they feel real clean. 5 or 6th wash I think.

  17. You guessed right mate. Just looked this up - avenuewebstore states the '22 jeans denim is the 'standard' as used on the '47 jeans. I also rechecked elsewhere (for sanity's sake) and the '22 jacket uses the same as the '33 jacket and '37 jeans. So the '22 jeans and the '27 jacket are matchy matchy on denim. The '22 jacket an outlier. Would be interested if there was any FW logic to this (other than the timing point)

  18. Wow So we got in those years: 1937 XXC- red cast denim 1942- WWII denim 1943- "standard" denim, OD HBT pocket bags 1944-45- WWII denim, OD HBT pocket bags 1945- WWII denim, red (not sure, if several colours) buffalo check flannel pocket bags 1947- "standard" denim I think, FW hasn't released a 1946 pair (yet)?? Edit: I've just seen, that there was also a 1946 pair. Released in March 2020. It has the same fabric as the 1947 one. But with all yellow stitching, iron buttons with clear finish vs. the later white painted ones and also with buffalo check flannel pocket bags but in a mustard colour.

  19. I'm guessing the '22 jeans follow the same line as the '27 jacket, which feature the "standard" denim (i.e.: '43, '47, '51, '56, etc.). Think I just read your post from the wrong perspective @MJF9, all good! All that said, FW sure do love some nuance around their denim don't they? I'm back in the '42s, going to stick with them until the WoM contest. Hoping it cools down at some point so I can wear the jacket as well...

  20. That's what my post said mate... I have the '27 jacket too - it's the 'standard' denim. I don't have the '22 jeans (as you say released years ago) and for clarity can't say what denim they are. My earlier post could have inferred it was the same as the jacket (good spot Austin, thanks). That said, it seems a bit odd to have a '22 jacket that is different denim to the '22 jeans but it may well be true or not! Calling @Duke Mantee

  21. Yeah, super fast any time I've ordered from them. For sure looks better, ha. Dunno why I didn't try that first. I did have to cuff the sleeve as these are pretty long and my arms are pretty short. Having never worn a denim jacket, I'm surprised at how much give these pleats have on the chest. Much more freedom of movement than I anticipated, honestly.

  30. So, the 43 is standard denim. And the other WWII models- 1944-45 with the OD HBT pockets and the 1945 with the flannel pockets- are the slubbier denim (stronger vertical fading), same as the recent 1942?

  31. I have the 22 jacket Shred and it's the same denim, as per FW, as the 37 jeans and 33 jacket that I have.

  32. They really are fading very fast. I haven't worn them much. But they're probably my most faded pair of the <than two years' ones. Indigo neoprene suit?

  33. Drawing a line can be controversial 50 years feels right to me - but then I talk to folks who collect sneakers, outdoor apparel, video games, trading cards - it's tricky There are probably more fitting threads for those jeans though - most of us come here for the real old stuff I ask myself, how many times was OSHA violated in these jeans? Oh? OSHA didn't exist? Okay, they're vintage

  34. Early 1960s paper tag 2002XX. First time ever wearing a denim jacket. I have mixed feelings so far but just not used to it I guess. This was purchased unwashed from Cultizm on Monday night. In my hands in the middle of nowhere California on Thursday, washed and now it’s dry Thoughts on fit? It feels good so far, but I have very wide hips so knew I’d likely never be able to do anymore than a couple of buttons up…

  35. DD1003xx ‘46 after another wash. At this point repairs have been done to yoke, crotch, cuffs, pocket stitching. Pocket stitching needs yet another one. For the wear, this amount of repairs are a bit much. Got these in 2020 (?) - probably not more than 15 months total wear. Just a few times a month these days. Color is more accurate in the close ups. I do really like this pair, the denim is still quite stiff and crunchy given the amount of washes now (probably 10?) - the cut still works well for me too. Just wish they felt a bit more robust overall (I’m a broken record on that at this point I get it).

  44. DSB 1947 model Just gave this thing it's second hand wash a couple of days ago The denim is so coarse and crispy I'm worried the armpits are going to blow out just from the fabric rubbing. Sweat without a doubt exacerbating this
