SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

@tooth No I don’t think I ever took any pictures. They don’t look particularly remarkable; they never got any of the dramatic rolling that a lot of the product photos tend to show (maybe because they just fit funny). I can take some later this week probably, if I can find the boots. - Yesterday

@julian-wolf do you have pics of your m-43 Lofgren’s? I bet they look great based on how you wear stuff. I’ve tried on the m-43 multiple times, but something about them just feels off to me as well. I wear a 9.5 US and have tried 8.5 and 8 in the m-43. The 8 felt better than the 8.5, but still something felt off/awkward; I want to find a pair that fits so I’ll keep trying as I think they’re great looking boots... I do have the Lofgren Chelsea, which I like a lot, but they don’t see a ton of wear (not sure why, but I always choose other boots). @Alec Leamas make sure to check return policies! -
Those "Wolsros" remind me of those backwards jeans by Dolce Gabbana that Liam Gallagher used to wear, I want to say that I hate them but I actually think they're kinda fun. Also, is that a Buzz Rickson's parka he's wearing?
-
Encinitas after wash. Really nice subtle texture to this fabric, and the green caste is a nice change from the purple & red hues we see more often.

Nice pair of black jeans. The patch looks remarkably clean for all the wear you've put into them.

I think of the '51 as moderately trim through the leg I guess, but up top not quite as much - but what I was trying to say was that going TTS with the '51 is only slightly more trim feeling than only sizing up 1 (from TTS) with my '01s. Which is just to say, the OA top block strikes me overall as neither trim nor loose but pretty "traditional" - and that's a size down from what's suggested. Bodies are different!
-
Feels funny to me that you think of the ‘51 as trim and still comfortably wear the Saddle Pants. I was never able to get the Saddle Pants up over my thighs at any reasonable waist size, but my ‘51 fit me with a good amount of room to spare.
-
Correct I sized up two and it’s still quite slim in the top block. I imagine they’ll stretch a bit but I expected a looser fit from the get go also the FW 51 is a pretty trim cut

Really dope. Looks like different hardware on yours, and a darker corduroy, but overall really similar. Excited to see one with the tag still present, in any case—I’ll have to do some googling & see if I can find any of that model that shipped with these details to confirm.

Black ‘50s, don’t remember if / when I’ve posted these in the past Color truest in the all-the-way-zoomed-out photos, and I’m the angled shots up the lengths of the legs

Nice blue combo Which MF shirt is that? Indigo chambray?

I bought a version of this jacket a few years back from Yahoo Auctions. I don’t get to wear it much, and I’ve genuinely debated cutting out the lining so I can wear it more.

Yeah I still frequent the sub and try to help out as much as I can in the daily questions threads. I see @beautiful_FrEaK and @julian-wolf in the dq thread all the time too. I like that the wash/don't wash divide leans towards wash these days though. People post their jeans that haven't touched water in over a year and there's always (deserved) comments about stench. But you'll still have people show up accusing you of not showering enough if you suggest that washing monthly or so is the best way to prevent stinky jeans.

Thanks dude that's helpful info! Funnily enough, I've had similar experiences with other variants of M-43 repro so I'm starting to wonder whether that style of last or type of boot is just destined to feel a bit weird, for me at least. Anyhow, East West Apparel have actually been super helpful today and offered some great advice too -

TOTALLY agree. I tend to do my utmost to not talk down about things and rather pick out the positives but you're right it's a strange place, if you're talking about r/rawdenim that is anyway. I find it's essentially a Naked & Famous sub, with some very odd wash / don't wash divides; extremes with no middle ground. That said, some of our most esteemed sufu members do partake in it as well - I seem to recall that one of @julian-wolf's posts in there on his Warehouse DSB's did it's part in getting me hooked on repro cuts and fabrics!! -

It's just very different interests, IMO. I used to lurk there years ago and almost all interest was in N+F and other cheapish stuff (take that word in various meanings) like BraveStar and Gustin. I checked it out again not long ago and a pair of absurdly stacked N+F jeans seemed to be a hit. Cool for the people into that stuff, but it's an entirely different world than what I'm drawn to. -
This strikes me as a little bit surprising, as my 01's at size 31 have a pretty comfortable top block, more than I'd expected on first wash. The only thing is the waist itself, which was pretty small but stretched and is now quite comfortable if even a little loose. The thighs/seat/hips etc all wear a bit more generously than my FW '51's in size 30. The rule for OA tends to be size up by 2ish - and I got my 03's in size 32 but they're stashed for now. I'll be surprised if they wear very slim after they hit water, but I guess not as much now seeing the above posts. From what I understand the cuts tend to differ most below the knee.

SUPERDENIM SMALL QUESTIONS THREAD (Use instead of making new threads)

They’re sized really funny, in my experience. The last is on the wide end and is sorta shapeless? I’m a Brannock 11 C-D (EU 44, UK 10 narrow, 10.5D in most US boots), and I had to size down to a 9.5 in the M-43 for them to not feel ultra sloppy; at that point my toes were dangerously close to the front of the boots, and they still had more volume and less support than I would have liked. Meanwhile, even with my toes that far forward, my balls seemed to sit at exactly the expected point. Overall a really weird last. I really got the impression they were just sort of meant to fit sloppy on most standard feet. I wore them hard for 3+ years, because I didn’t really know any better at the time (and they did look nice and hold up great), but looking back now I never should have taken them out of the store. To be clear, I don’t think I have particularly weird shaped feet or anything, besides being around half a size narrow—I’ve rarely had issues finding shoes that fit well in the last few years since learning what to look for—I think the Lofgrens are just funky. -
