Mastermind Japan?

I've heard some people talking about this brand. There are also rumours that it was started by Yohji Yamamoto. All seems very interesting. I've had a look at afew pieces online, the stuff looks quite nice. I only wish they didn't have to plaster their logo on almost everything. Anyone got more info on this brand?

no i'm pretty sure he's talking about Mastermind Japan, since he mentioned the rumor of Yohji Yamamoto being involved in the brand. I don't think that's actually true.

Mastermind stuff is crazy expensive, never seen any of it in person.

Mastermind started in 1997 by Masaaki Hona. The line had it's first men's show in 1999 under "Mastermind JAPAN" in Tokyo. In 2001, the label went out of Japan to Paris, etc. Basically known for its rock inspired clothing and it's signature Skull Crossbone logo, especially its latest S/S collection which is basically rip-off of grunge rock.

Frankly, not at all impressed with the label. Way too many labels in Japan right now are biting off the "rock" inspired image (N(N) for S/S, Roen, Undercover, etc, Comme des Garcons, and a host of smaller outfits -- too many to name). The images are tired but his wife is amazingly cute/hot; so I give him credit that he has good taste in women. Aside from the higher end suits, most of the stuff is just rehashed branded/logoed rock inspired ish. Stock-list available on their website: http://www.mastermindjapan.com
