I'm wondering what suits and shoes you might recommend. I'm going for a Paul Banks from Interpol look.

What's your budget and built? What occasions will you wear it for (I'm assuming casual but maybe not...)

Gianni Barbato, Costume National Homme, and maybe N.D.C. (although that brand is super overhyped right now) are good places to start looking, depending on whether you want a pointed toe. a chiselled or slightly rounded toe, or distressed look, respectively. The shoes will run you in the $300+ range, even on sale though...

I believe that Interpol is completely outfitted by Dior Homme these days, so $3000 probably doesn't even touch it. However, H&M, which has been doing Dior ripoffs for a while now, will do you good (although I wouldn't expect the stuff to last, obviously.) Recently, they've been Also, search YOOX if you want some cooler than available in the States shoes. Searching through thrift and consignment shops (if you are in LA, Decades II is amazing - lots of models consign there, so you can get stuff sometimes even before it's been produced) and sample sales (esp. in NYC) are other good ways of getting great stuff on the cheap.

I have hung out with the dudes from Interpol several times and they definitely don't really give a shit about spending $1000 on a suit, let alone $3000. If anything, the label might pay a stylist/they get free shit at photshoots, but overall, they aren't dropping anything even close to that kind of cash on a suit.....

This doesn't mean they aren't getting Dior Homme (or some other designer label) clothes for free. Giving clothes to rockstars means people will associate your brand with rockstars which is something Dior Homme wants to do, I'm sure.

Franz Ferninand is completely outfitted by Dior Homme as well, and Coldplay by Nice Collective (while on tour, of course). It's a symbiotic relationship built on $$$$$$$.

Pretty much every celebrity figure out there has stylists (how do you think stylists make a living?) and often contracts with clothing labels (see above.) More often, they just get comped tons of free shit with the designer hoping that the celebrity will wear the shit and make it big. If you want to hit a celebrity stylist, go to Traffic in LA or Lisa Kline (both really cool stores, btw), and throw a stone into the back office.

Which is why in my post I mentioned the fact that they get shit free at photoshoots, etc. and their stylists get the shit as well.............I worked in entertainment marketing for quite a while here in LA, I know very well how it works........

I was on the stylist side of things, so maybe you can blame me for some of the bullshit, but my clients were so C list they were pretty much D list. So, no blaming me for UGGS or anything Britney wore/wears. Thank God. England, you don't like my style, I'm not a fan of yours. But let's be cool, whaddya say?
