New 501 cut for SS09?

Just happened upon a new ad campaign for Levi's SS09, apparently they have a new 501 cut similar to the lvc 1947. I would personally love to see the 1947 style for less than $100. Not sure if this has been discussed here, or confirmed by any Levis employees.

If they fit like the ads suggest I'll be ecstatic:

Don't bother they don't fit like that and plus the quality is horrible. Invest your money in quality denim.

If you size down enough with the current 501 (the 30 dollar kind) you can get a pretty slim fit without being uncomfortable at all, since they stretch so much

The fit of the 501 has changed and adjusted according to the tastes of the time since its inception. Thats why all the different lvc and repro models have different fits.

I don't get why people are ragging on this, a slimmer straighter 501 seems like a very logical contemporary move, given current trends in jean fits. The previous 501 fit was supposedly hip hop influenced, which is why its baggier than most lvc models, this latest change is almost overdue i feel.

this new 501 cut is the "global" slim cut that was released in august 08. it fits VERY similar to my lvc 1947's; the rise is a little different and there's no antifit ass

^they have a one wash-ish selvage but its not worth your time. Priced at 98$, the quality is pretty shot and I wasn't impressed. A better alternative is the "Product with Roots: limited edition 1947 501s" which come with a leather patch, hidden rivets and STF, but w/out the selvage outseam and priced at under $50 on sale currently. On another note, there is a wash called "Rigid Rinse" which looks very very close to LVC 47's and sized down 2, the fit is pretty close as well.
