how do you work GGPO and the roms/emulators etc?

and which kof and sf is most popular over ggpo?

Ok basically to get GGPO to work, you need to open your ports on your router/modem in order for you to communicate with other players via P2P. In order to do that, you would need to know your routers IP address.. It can usually be found in your routers handbook or through the ipconfig option.

1) Click start on the menu then go to run

2) Type in cmd to load up the config window

3) type in ipconfig once it loads up

4) It should tell you what your current IP address is

If you don't have a router, I'm not too sure... It could just be a firewall issue so I would go into your firewall options and make sure that you grant GGPO the exception to run on your network. If ggpofba is letting you play then I don't see an issue.. Have you registered on the GGPO site? If not then you should.

In order for the roms to work you will need to download them from any rom site that carries Mame/Arcade roms.

King of fighters 2002 and street fighter 3rd strike are probably the two most popular games on GGPO with the exception of KOF 98 and Garou: Mark of wolves.

KOF 98 / 2002 is the most balanced ones . people still play it in my country regardless if its ultimate match or the old ones .

truth...i am not looking forward to xii mostly cause of the lame character roster and they ruined clark/ralf/kim and there's no mai or blue mary...that's like not having cammy and chun li in street fighter...wtf... hope they are in the console version of the game or something...yeah, the more i think about it the more i hate this garbage...2002um, 98um, neowave are the best kof's, in that order and i will stick to that...

As far as I know, Goro has actually been dumbed down compared to his 2002/98 counterparts.. He's still pretty good, but he's not as good as he used to be according to people from SRK.

And how can you say they ruined Clark/Ralf/Kim? They're pretty much the same from what I can tell, just that Clark is a monster in this one. His command grab takes lives in XII.. I watched this one vid where he took out an entire team with ease.

It's disappointing that they took out Mai, but blue mary? Personally I don't think she's THAT good. I'm sure that Ignition will probably release some DLC that includes some unlockable characters or something, but I'm definitely looking forward to this simply because it's totally fresh and will take time to master.

I'm still deciding if I should just use the full Psycho soldier team..

Yo Sole, if GGPO doesn't work out well for you there is another alternative.

It's called 2DFighter, just make an account on the website (2dfighter.com) and then from there just follow the instructions they give to you.. You may have to open your ports again, but this one is actually much easier than GGPO..

Give 2dfighter a try and let me know if it works out for you. They have pretty much the same games as far I know, if not more than GGPO.. GGPO is just more widely used which is why I recommended it.

well let's see...clark has only 3 special moves...the argentine backbreaker with the elbow finish and the vulcan punch...for a throw type character that is fucking lame...it's true that he does good damage, there are no mind games to play with him anymore dealing damage just got anoying...not to mention that he is ranked d on arcadia's tier list...ralfs galactica phantom punch has been reduced in range and is blockable...lol...and again, he has no moves list...and kim got nerfed way too much in this game...standing c sucks, only 4 special moves...basically 2002kim is lost forever...sigh...i feel like this is a stupid attempt for snk to get new people interested in kof with new sprites...and they dont even look that good...tatsunoko vs capcom sprites > kofxii

I totally disagree with the tatsunoko > KOF sprites.. TVC is just a MVC clone, nothing special about it. I don't see why people get hyped over that game to be honest.

Clark has some epic canceling in KOF XII.. And screw tier lists, they don't serve any purpose to me. All it is is just some assumption of how other characters fare over the other, its meaningless in my opinion.. I never look at tier lists for shit.

I'll show you some good battles with clark from seven islands. I personally don't use Clark or any of the grapplers, I use the psycho soldier team because of chinese martial arts.. Chin is ridic in this game.

As I mentioned earlier though Sole, try using 2dfighter.. It's basically the GGPO equivelant and works just as well.. There's less work you have to do as well.. The instructions are fairly simple on 2dfighter..

If it doesn't work for you, then you just need to open your udp port on ur modem/router. All that does is it lets you host games, so you can challenge people instead of people always challenging you..

Check out the 2dfighter forums for a more detailed explanation on it. I use 2dfighter more than I use GGPO due to its easy to use interface.

so ive been on this kof forum and they are saying that the online play for xii is horrible...fuck man, that was the only thing that i was looking forward too since this game has no survival mode, No trial modes, no challenge modes, no story, nothing to unlock, not a damn fucking thing. and now i find out that online sux...FUCK......but i guess there's a patch that comes out in the next few days to supposedly fix this shit...

The SRK forum always complains about shit.. They did with SF IV when it came out as well, and now look. Everybody just wants to find reason to bash the game and then everyone else just follows along..

Until the game is actually in my system, I'm not going to rely on that srk nonsense.. I'm sure the game will be fine regardless.. As long as it'll be at evo 2010 then I'm fine..lol.

Supposedly famitsu didn't like it too much giving it 5,5,7,5 or some shit like that.. They said the gameplay is smooth but because the game lacks a story mode (eh who the fuck cares? I dont play fighting games for a story..) and the lack of characters (considering each character took 18 months to actually create).. People are too fussy man.

so the patch came out and the game is still laggy as shit...

and another glitch which works if Raiden is playing against Elizabeth, when Raiden does his Super at any time against her, Elizabeth becomes handcuffed and is locked in an infinite glitch stun. Raiden can punch her out of it with a few moves, but otherwise can glitch the timeout win. This will 100% happen in all game modes and is confirmed on both Xbox 360 and PS3.
