Retail Jobs in NY?

I posted this in Super jetset and had no joy so I'll try here!

Basically, just a question... Is it easy to find retail fashion jobs in NY?

I'm coming to New York to work for the summer.. 2- 3 months.

I'm a student, I work in All Saints in the UK (and have worked for Topshop), and would be looking for something similar - Urban Outfitters, AA, Uniqlo, H&M, that sort of thing, or even something more high end maybe if possible.

So, anyone here in NY work in a shop? What's the best way to apply, just go into the store with a Resume / CV? I'm guessing applying online won't really get you anywhere.

Any info / help would be much appreciated

just apply, apply and apply.

when i thought i was going to be living in NYC i applied to 30 stores in person and got like 4 calls for an interview.

just remember to be super friendly when your dropping off your resume and it could better your chances.

You should go in, demand double the pay they normally offer, tell them your sick and wont be able to make it to your first day, no matter when that might be. Yell a lot too, and if you can, smell like booze and have leftover white powder on your nose.

That will work 99% of the time.

Haha yeah that would probs work if I wanted to work in AA :P

Thanks for the advice guys, pretty much what I thought..

Another question..when applying, should I ask for the manager? I would always do that here but I don't know if the procedure's different!

Regardless of where you are in the world, it's always important in my opinion to ask for the manager. It shows more interest in the job rather than walking in, dropping your resume off then leaving.
