How to avoid leg twisting?

I have looked all over this forum for this subject with no luck. If it has been covered before, I apologize.

So the question is, is there any way to keep the seams from twisting on jeans? I generally prefer straight leg jeans, but I do wear boots and many straight leg jeans don't sit well over boots (I'm talking about Docs and Redwings, not cowboy boots), so I end up needing to cut the inseam at the hem about 1.5" so they look right. Having just bought my first pair of unsanforized japanese jeans (PBJ xx005), I'm a little worried about doing this in case the legs twist.

I know that some people find the twisting effect desirable, and I probably would too if I wore different shoes and didn't feel it necessary to cut the inseam a bit, but what can I say, I like my boots. Any advice?

How would leg twist affect the inseam length..? Twist occurs when denim shrinks during washes/soaks, so if you don't want that to happen just don't let your jeans touch water?

Still don't understand how leg twist would affect how the jeans sit on boots...

It's not that the twisting affects the length or how the jeans sit on boots, it's that if I cut into the inseam so that the jeans lay better on my boots, and then the inseam twists towards the front of my foot, then the cut is sitting on top of my foot instead of over my inside ankle, and would look retarded.

Buy sanforized jeans. All unsanforized jeans will shrink with some degree of leg twist when they are washed.

most people here wear boots and dont feel the need to cut their jeans though. I'm not sure what it is that makes you feel the need to do this.

I dunno, maybe it's because for a long time I wore bootcut jeans and now straight-leg jeans look too short to me because they don't sit as low on my boots. I'm holding off for now on cutting them to see if I get used to it, but I'd still like to find some way to keep them from twisting if I decide to cut them. If I decide not to, then I'd have no problem with the twisting.

You just aren't used to seeing as much of your shoe, so it looks awkward. Don't cut your inseams for a faux-bootcut effect. Embrace your laces.

Or... buy a wider straight leg, and take the wider cut that comes with it

Most current 'bootcuts' are really just a man-term for flared.

Personally I think most modern bootcut jeans usually don't look that great with boots (makes the knee look skinny, and throws off the silhouette) and are even worse with lower shoes (by eating the whole shoe)

not sure if this is what you mean by leg twist but my apc new standards were sized down 2 or 3 so when i started out they were really tight. they have stretched quite a bit but my right side selvage inseam twists towards the front of my feet slightly while my left leg is fine. i assume it is cuz my leg muscles and leg is slightly bigger/thicker since i am right side dominant. and since they stretched, it just happend like that.

is that what this whole twisting is about?

With all due respect, if people are posting on here without knowing what legtwist even is I suggest them to LURK MOAR!

i was only asking for clarification ... i dont even think leg twist is a problem, if thats even what i have. i was just wondering ... a simple yea or nay would have sufficed.

i love how people get so uptight about answering a question ... its a freaking forum ... not everyone starts off as a SUFU veteran ... there are people who join daily so chill out

Why do you think I said "lurk more"?

The answer is there already, your question has been answered a dozen times.

Yes people join daily, and indeed not everyone is a "SUFU veteran", but how do you think people become a "veteran"? By going in and trying to find something out themselves...

And to get things straight, I'm not here to answer your questions, I'm here to learn from people who have similar interests.

Signal to noise ratio!

Basically everything has been discussed already and there is the Encyclopedia which clearly says "read me before posting a new thread", and still people don't bother but ask their question anyway.

Don't blame people for getting annoyed when the board gets clogged up with the same question over and over again, blame the people who come here hoping to get their every question answered without doing their homework.

"No sitting at the table if you bring nothing to it!"

Its called "USE THE FUCKING SEARCH FUNCTION!"

Stupid shit, I'm locking this topic!
