what color blazers go well with jeans or khakis?

tweed blazers go well as do a plain black.

Velvet's big too right now but I'd only recommend it if you can pull if off.

As for shirts, my preference lately is for solid colours or shirts with more subtle patterns/textures because I hate the striped shirt/zebra phenomenon.

If you really wanna get dressy, wear a shirt and tie, and drop a nice v-neck sweater over it, and then the blazer.

Stay away from t-shirts under blazers. Wear button-ups, AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE TUCKED IN!

Also yeah, shirt/tie under a nice slim-fit v-neck sweater looks great. Looks very classy but if the shirt and sweater are slim fitting, looks very youthful, too.

Have to agree, the whole blazer with jeans thing is pretty played out. Now when you see people wearing that shit, you can tell they're the "I get my style advice from Maxim" set.(one guy even had a tuxedo jacket! wtf?) Not that the look is dead, but be careful. I'd avoid denim, and stick to khakis, or if you want to push it maybe some corduroy. As for blazers, I'd stick to solid colors.

Actually the blazer/jeans combo can look good with plain shirts tucked in, with a decent belt, dark pair of straight fitted jeans (think Nudie Slim Jim or LVC 1947), and please loafers or boots. no "sporty fashiony runners" like those monstrosites Puma and Diesel puts out

i always stick to black and white, they will never go wrong on any combination , even your blue jeans looks prefectly fine with a black/white blazer or a b/w inner. play ard with this combi. i never like to risk looking ridiculous on any particular day with maybe combi like brown and blue? weird.

When I'd said emo style, I wasn't actually bashing skinny ties, more the way some of the emo kids wear them..shirt untucked or worse yet, short sleeve shirt...

I don't think I can cosign on the white blazer recommendation..I don't find it very versatile, it's hard to keep clean and you'll always 'that guy in the white blazer' in that you'll always be noticeable but not necessarily for the right reasons...

I don't think it's dead.

I think you can easily end up like the guy on the left here:

but as long as you don't wear garish striped shirts, TUCK YOUR SHIRT IN, and wear dark, straight leg jeans, you're fine.

Where is that image from? Hilarious, and true. You see 100s of those guys waiting to get into all the super clubs.

Just because the blazer has been appropriated by hipsters (and in turn, a hella lot of ppl around the world) doesn't mean that wearing one makes you a jackass.

Some of us actually wear more than tshirts, jeans and sneakers on a regular basis.

I could be mistaken, but I think the humor in the pic posted came more from the whole ensembles they put together (along with the captions), as opposed to someone wearing a blazer. Come to think of it, the guy wasn't even wearing a blazer, but rather a car coat. When did I post something that said I only wear jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers everyday?

Oh, I see what you meant now when you attached my quote to your message. You thought I was calling the entire thread, "dress like a jackass page". I can assure you that wasn't the case. I suppose I should be more careful considering how easily context can get lost here. I was responding to the link in Minya's post, which was titled, "Do you dress like a jackass?" I have nothing against blazers at all. Aren't they one of those indispensable items of clothing?
