Need help on Dress size conversion. US UK FR IT

I am looking to buy a present for an upcoming birthday but I am not too familiar with women sizing.. ;(

well I am looking for dress size 34-36 (german size - I think it is the same as french?)

US size 4 UK size 6 and IT 40 a small or FR 36?

Some charts say that FR 36 is US 2 or 4 so is IT 40 the same size as the 36 I am looking for?

yeah... what you're looking for is probably 38 IT. a 40 would be more like a medium than a small.

are you sure? When browsing on eluxury I found that French size 36 seems to be US size 4

While the D&G Dress is stated as 40IT it also says that 40IT is equal to US 4?

well it is hard to judge without knowing her, to be honest. no sizing is universal, it depends on the brand, woman's body, the type of sizing, etc.

she could have a totally different body type from me for all I know... I was just judging by my personal experience: most of the clothes I have in a size IT 38 are kinda loose fitting but they fit me like a US 4, which fit like a FR 36.
