REI's return policy?

I bought some boots a few months back that I want to return. I'm a co-op member. I can't find the receipt but I have the original box and packaging and the boots were not worn much. I know REI has an extremely generous return policy, but what I'm wondering is if I can count on a cash refund or just store credit? My line is going to be that after going on a few long walks I don't like the fit. Anyone have any experience with this?

My gf has returned so many things there, both her stuff & mine. All the stuff has been tested & used. She never brings the receipt because they've got a record of everything you've purchased on the computer as long as it was done so with the co-op member number. She always purchases with her cc & they always return it back to the card. So if you paid cash, I'm assuming they'll give you cash back. Call & ask them.
