Removing shoulder pads from pea coat, what to bear in mind?

Hello,

I got this lovely Topman Pea Coat:

However, it has shoulder pads and I don't think they fit to my body so I'm considering getting the coat to a tailor to remove them.

Will it be fine if he just takes them out or will it need additional tailoring on the shoulder and arms? Has anybody done it before?

Removing shoulder pads from coats/ blazers is never a good idea. The jacket would end up draping funny and would probably look loose in the shoulder area.
