Didn't realize Diesel bought Margiela

Diesel purchased a majority stake in the label late 2002? I can't remember but it was a couple years back. So far the label still seems to be quite independent. Diesel has killed itself but I'm sure they're making a healthy profit.

It looks safe John, have you seen the website it has almost no information and is written from the point of we.

Apparantly MM isn't at the maison since he started at Hermes, but as the label is about group effort, there has been only a small drop in the intellectual bent.

You should have a look at NZ labels Nom D and Zambesi, the Antwerp 6 are still a big influence here.

That's funny. Tommy H was just recently put up on the auction block and I think Walmart was interested in purchasing/had purchased them. I can't imagine TH taking over Helmut Lang. icon_smile_dissapprove.gif Tommy H has recently been really annoying me with its pervasive advertising on MTV Japan and product placements, making it seem its a hip American company, when in reality its a struggling Hong Kong outfit with a puppet regime designer *oops* i mean stylist.

Margiela for the past few seasons has remained consistent, with peaks IMO in particlarly their F/W '03 & '04 collections. Two seasons after (as is noted above) they were purchased by Diesel. I wouldn't worry, if anything it might only help Diesel better their own designs. Maybe they'll learn to start taking cues from Margiela and quit ripping off Dsquared's tired-assed stuff.

If it were a wool or wool blend then I would have thought you did an awesome job. But, 175 dollars for cotten trousers? Hmmm. I dunno. Hopefully the fit is good.

Thanks for the honest opinion djrajio. I also think it's a bit pricey for cotton trousers but Margiela has such a nice fit and the deconstructionism style is subtle. I own a couple and I just love how comfortable they are. I do hope it lives up to expectations!
