Is there a trend toward lighter-weight denim being offered in the classic brands? I've noticed - especially from Levi's - that their denim weights have gone down over the years. I see on their websites (both US and Euro) that the heaviest denim now appears to be the 12.5 oz, with many finishes and styles in even lighter weights.

The only brand I see out there (at least from the 'original school') featuring truly classic, heavy-weight denim (14.5 0z) is Wrangler, in their 13MWZ model. I realize you can obtain some ultra-heavy denim from the more exotic brands - especially from
