your never going to find any patterns with a "sufu" fit. you're going to have to draft from scratch or alter them on your own.

Buy this book

your not going to find much online

I have this book but I've never used it. (Opens book up)

Chapter 24 "knock-off copying ready made designs."

This is probably what you are looking for.

do you have personal experience with that specific one? thanks for the suggestion

yeah, it's the textbook for my school. I have made many a' pattern from that book. The best part about it was that most of it was not female specific and could be used for menswear. i.e. the section about collars and lapels can be used for both, same with most of it minus the skirts and dresses. And honestly Menswear is not nearly as difficult as womenswear in cut and pattern.

Edit: I just remembered I have a extra copy still in the shrink wrap If anyone is interested. I'm asking for 60 shipped (in US). PM me if interested.

i have that book. never opened it, i probably should. it was recomended to me by a lot of people though, profesionals included so it should be Ok.

the best way to start pattern making is to get yourself a set of basic blocks for a few shapes - trouser, 5 pkt jean, tee, jkt etc and then make them up to see what the fit is like and alter them to your liking. then you always have the starting point for future designs.

i had blocks given to me at fashion school. I imagine the book tells you how to create them. maybe someone can give you a set.

what's a block?

sorry. it is a basic template for a a pattern. use it as a starting point... like you always have your blocks which you don't change and you start each future pattern by tracing off your block and altering it from there.

i don't know if i am the best person to talk about this since i hate pattern making with a passion. i need to practise though :(

Technically a block is the base pattern that you derive all of your other patterns from, changing individual elements so you don't have to pay to start them all from scratch. For example, Levi's 501 pattern would be their jeans block, but when they decided to make different cuts like the 511 or 514 the only had to change the front and back leg panels, maybe the yokes. Not to be too bitchy about semantics, but inside the apparrel industry people are intolerant as heck for people that mess up the terms.

For information like this I highly recommend the blog - http://www.fashion-incubator.com/mt/archives/what_is_a_block.html

Edit: diamonds you're right, I misread his post, but to be clear a block is your starting pattern that you've already made, not a generic pattern you might pull out of a library
