Prom

Dark, slim suit would also work. Just make sure everything's understated. You want to look like you picked a suit on purpose, not that you couldn't find a tux.

+1 I'm doing a suit with a subtle vest and stuff, because you're basically going to take off your tux jacket when you dance and enjoy yourself.. so I think a vest + shirt and tie would work. Also you can use the suit for graduation as well, rather than just using a tux for one night. idkz. das wut i wudew

+1 on the two posts above. You could also go out and buy a classic black one button suit with peak lapels. It's a classic formal suit that can be worn to prom, graduation, weddings, etc. but still below a tux so more versatile. Assuming you aren't too crazy of a suit size it shouldn't be incredibly difficult to find.

Oh, no matter what (as long as you aren't renting): get it early enough to get to a tailor.

don't take prom too seriously, because it doesn't matter that much. spend your time planning shit and getting drunk afterwards.

a lot of superfuture members probably didn't even go to their prom and will be wanting to give you tons of stupid advice.

you can order them from virtually anywhere

places like buffalo exchange

i bought a tie off this place.

http://www.tieguys.com/Solid_Ties/Skinny_Ties/index.html

shipping is pretty fast and yeah

the quality is idunno but for the price you can choose how long and how fat you want it.

however for suits it'd look awkward for you to wear a 1 in thick tie wiht a business-type suit. and i believe the way you knot it (4 hand knot, half windsor, windsor, etc) affects the overall presentation of yourself.

but good luck

with skinny suits i'd opt for a skinny tie.

4 in hand knot seems best for skinny ties imo.

i prefer windsors as my "knot of choice"

but tie tying is a skill and it takes time and it sometimes frustrating when you cant get that perfect knot.

That suit is, indeed, incredible.

It's kind of irrelevant what knot you tie so long as it's appropriate for the collar you're wearing. Tiny point collar, small knot; small spread collar, small wide knot; etc. etc. I got a slim black silk tie from H&M for $30. If you'd like to wear it for other business or formal things, I wouldn't get it smaller than 2.5".

im going to try to check out zara for a slim black suit. I already know where to get the thin black tie and have the white shirt already. Just need the jacket and pants.

Where else i should look?

Guest Yons07

but how do you determine the length of a tie when you buy it online specially the skinny ones. I am 6 feet 5 and last year for prom I messed up and bought some short shit online for cheap. It didn't go to well.
