The shredding process was something Carol did to a lot of pieces for SS02 (Traditional Escape). The concept echoes how clothing gets shredded as you escape a prison while going over a barb wire fence... something like that

The shredding process has been done to shirts, blazers (with intact lining put in afterwards hehe), pants (with lining intact as well) and to leather boots.

i've seen other shirts/pants from the season - but never a striped button up. kinda random from carol.

I sold a black short sleeved shredded shirt on Ebay at Xmas. It fitted my but I just didn't really dig the style. Its definately a crazy design!

You know how it is done Albert? Does he just fold it and do it of is each one done individually?

I like to think that he does it with a lazer :)

Next time, I'll put my good stuff on here instead of Ebay, I like the appreciation that some of the pieces get on here!

I can't wait to handle this piece in person (thanks again Jay!!! You're the best!!!!)

The way these are done is that the shirt is constructed completely and the it's run through a perforator/cutter. I think it's something very similar to a surgical skin graft expander in concept:

graftexpander.jpg

think of it like a pasta maker but the rollers each have blades on them that cut as you roll something through it...

For the boots it was of course done to the leather and then the leather was used to make the footwear... the blazers and pants the same way (fabric was perf'd then used) because they still need to retain structure. The dress shirts and tees could hold together well enough that they could be constructed, then run through!

neat eh?
