Any easy NYC consignment shops?

I'm looking for an easy place in NYC where I can bring stuff ... decent cords, nothing special. Some t-shirts and polos and button-ups that I no longer wear. Ideally a place where I can walk in with a bag of clothes and walk out with even $40 or so. Anyone know a place?

Beacon's closet in Williamsburg or Park Slope, Brooklyn

Buffalo Exchange in Williamsburg

INA on Bleecker Street off of the bowery (probably more discerning than the above two)

"Bobby" on 7th street btwn 1st and Ave A in Manhattan.

The place across the street from Bobby (forgotten the name)

A japanese store on 7th as well, but between 1st and 2nd aves., I can't recoclect the name of this one either. Maybe "Yoko7"??? (again, more label conciouss and designer oriented.)

the last place you are talking about is tokio7. not sure exactly what the number is, but its just south of st marks.

they are really designer oriented and prices are pretty high in the store, but a decent selection.

they are REAL big dicks about bringing stuff in. If you have some name brand stuff, think Issey Miyake, CDG, etc then you will get a great price for it, if not then they will hassle the shit out of you.

Couple Japanese guys own the store, I have gotten some steals in there, but overall wouldnt suggest you taking anything in there.

Buffalo Exchange out in the burg might be your best bet, but you aint gonna get much for your items.

INA Mens on Mott St (between Prince and Houston). Make an appointment with Bajun and it's easy as pie to start up an account.

it's pretty tough if you work a 9-5 because they only take appointments during the workday. plus as herpsky mentions they won't take the stuff you mentioned. and 50% is typical consignment fee. you'd be better off selling on the marketplace here for dirt cheap prices or donating to charity and taking the writeoff

I'd say tokio 7, 7th bet. 1st and 2nd, is a good bet. They get a lot of traffic and I believe they work off of a 50% scale. I just bought some Jil sweaters there yesterday that I'm pleased with. I think you need to make an appointment.

edit: 2nd on herp's INA comments. They be carrying CCP, carpe diem and Dior jackets (and thats just on the front rack). I tried on the Dior blazer they had which was fucking so nice, but still $1100. They have some nice Margiela pieces too.

I don't think you are really looking for a 'consignment' shop, just somewhere that will pay you for your clothes. Consignment shops only give you cash if your items sell. That being said, I would discourage you from heading to INA or Tokio 7 with your wares...no offense, but I don't think you'll have much luck at those spots.

I would say Buff Exchange is your best bet. You'll get 35% back in cash or 50% in store credit. They are much more easy-going on what they take. Or Beacons Closet...but it seems pretty hectic in there.
