Levi's Vintage Jean Jacket. Read!

I went to a local thrift store in Houston, earlier today, and I came across a vintage women's jean jacket with an orange tag. Usually the modern levi's have a red tab. The tag stated that the jacket was made in Italy. I thought that was odd since most levi's items were made in USA. Does anyone know anything about this particular item? age? etc... I didn't buy the jacket 'cause I'm a guy and the length was too short but other than that it was a good fit. Any info will be appreciated. thanks

I THINK (but I could be wrong) that Levi's first overseas production started around 1981, and was in Scotland, with other factories opening soon after. Did the jacket have a little e (ie LeVI's rathr than LEVI's) tag?

(Edit: I was told that re the 501, it's always possible they introduced some other Euro lines earlier).

All the Euro made 501s used Cone fabric; initially made in North Carolina, but Cone opened their own European factories over this period. Some of the Euro stuff is pretty good, especially the ones in Sanforized denim.

Some of the modern LVC Europe fabric comes from Italy (for the washed jeans), and quite a lot of LVC was finished there at one time.

well I´m pretty sure that Levi´s started their euro production earlier, because I had many little e orange tabs with typical 1970s bell bottom cuts, such as 622, 602, 632, 630, 631, 637, etc. pp. and yes the stuff is really great, came in 14oz rigid denim :)

The tag was cut off, but a small portion was still left. It was an orange tab. I don't know if it was a little e or Big LEVI'S. The inside tag did state that the jacket was for girls. it said made for girls or something like that. The bottom tag said MADE IN ITALY. I'm pretty sure it's still there at the shop. I'm gonna go tomorrow and buy it and I'll post picks. thanks for your responses
