Bosnia and Sarajevo

anyone venture to these parts yet? I've read that safety is no longer an issue, and would love to go here before the tourist boom hits

My ex gf went there a lot, like every summer, she travelled alone and said safety was definetly not an issue anymore. Mostar is supposed to be the most beautiful city in bosnia.

I need to spend some more time in Eastern Europe. I traveled around Russia for a couple weeks when I was younger, but I really want to get out to Croatia, Ukraine, Poland, etc.

I would definitely do Hungary and Croatia before Bosnia. Sarajevo is grey and depressing. Go to Budapest and then just down the coast of Croatia skipping the biggest tourist spots.

This is true...

Sarajevo is in ruins and the cost af croatia as some tourist because the water is really nice ( blue and warm...)

But I've never been, a friend did.

Budapest and Bucarest are really nice cities.

i only say bosnia because for me, it's like the cambodia of that area. you couldn't go 10 years ago, and now might be a good time to get in while the getting's good. I might like the wild west aspect.

I doubt it. CNN and NYtimes aren't exactly roughing it. People I talk to about croatia say to avoid hotels and rent an apartment

how easy are overland routes and are there any issues with an American passport? Do I need an early visa?
