Sydney for New Years

My roommate is going to Sydney for new years. He doesn't know anyone there and he's going alone. Can anyone recommend a good spot for some decent new year's bash? He's a friendly Cuban and a professional drinker. He's looking for a bar or maybe a club where he can get shit faced and just have a good time. He's 26 years old if that helps.

He'll be staying in Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbor.

What about some outdoor parties that you can either bring your own booze or that have a bar. Even places that have tickets, so far a lot of them look sold out.

Depends on the event but whenever you can buy alcohol on the premises you probably won't be able to bring any in (bag searches). The Bondi event will be outdoors, on the beach. You'll be able to bring whatever you want to the Glenworth valey event but it's an hour out of Sydney, same for the Doof event 2 hours out of Sydney (bring everything you need) and not sold out yet... but from what I've heard, security will let your mate in without a ticket anyway, in exchange for a blowjob.

If he just wants to bounce around all night then looks like Wildlife NYE will be in the Hordern. The Hordern is a large classic Sydney rave warehouse/hall type venue, and will probably exted to a couple of smaller stages outdoors. There is a decent chance he can get tickets from a scalper or people getting rid of unused tickets for most events in any case.

I'm sure the "NYE on the Beach ft. Vanilla Ice" event on Coogee beach still hasn't sold out, get him to try that.. 15min by cab from where he's staying.
