Buying motor/driving shoes

I'm looking to pick up a gift for my best friend and roomate. He's a *huge* car fan, loves racing, racing games, going to F1, etc. He's also not the most fashionable of blokes and only has a couple of pairs of shoes.

I was thinking of picking him up a pair of these:

It's the Porsche design collection for adidas. They aren't too flashy so they shouldn't scare him off, they look comfortable, and they should appeal to his racing side.

Does anyone own a pair of these so I'll know how the fare in real life? Any suggestions on other pairs in the same vein? Thanks in advance!

i find dunks are the best shoes to drive in. i personally dont like driving in thin profile shoes like alot of racing drivers wear. you can always try new balance, if bunta fujiwara wears them, they must be good .

Hmmm, that's not a bad idea. He loves Nikes, especially old Air Jordans and Air Max's.I'm not a dunk fan myself but he might like them. Thanks!

No offense taken! I think I was putting too much emphasis on the fact that they're driving shoes designed by porche (he's a porche fan)

The dunk route does seem to be a way better idea now.

ill just like to point out most people would find dunks to be shitty shoes to drive in. if hes a car fanatic like you say he is, then i think he would like something more 'racing inspired'.

as for air max, i have a pair of am1s and i find them hard to drive in cause of the grippier and larger sole.

if he likes to drive get him the Sparcos or something similiar, if he simply admires racing get him some dunks or shit like that, i have some onitsuka tigers with paper thin soles for the track, 600hp clutches and thick/bulky shoes do NOT mix
