thats true.

its weird in germany. dhl doesnt offer ems anymore, and now the highest insurance value to send stuff including tracking that its worth to pay for is 50€. after that, the prices they charge are insane. but within most european countries hermes is the best choice anyway, since they are cheap and always insured, up to 500€ iirc.

You have to be sure that the shipping method is reliable Also, obviously there has to be some trust, so always check your references.

I always ask the seller to write a lower value on the shipping form and I haven't had any customs problems with USPS/EMS/Fedex/Canada post at all. USPS Global priority mail for instance is a perfect shipping method. You don't get any tracking number but it's a lot cheaper than shipping insured by express mail, and most of all, GPM is very reliable. At least, when shipping to my place..

One day I ordered something from NY..paid on Wednesday, shipped by USPS GPM and delivered on Saturday morning!

Of course I didn't do a chargeback, but it was very easy for me to screw the seller afterwards, so like I said, there has to be some trust as well.

I usually get delivery confirmation on my USPS packages for ebay and forums. I've had someone request better shipping with tracking and insurance and paid extra for it. If they don't want to pay extra for the glory that is EMS, then i just get delivery confirmation to cover my ass and then it's their problem. I usually remind buyers they can use EMS for more security.
