How do persimmon jeans fade?

I remenber somebody saying they get DARKER with wear, but i'm not sure.

I have Sugar Cane SC40285 and they are similar to the sugar canes you linked. I think they (Sugar Cane) try to make the jeans look like the kaki-shibu (persimmon tannin dyed) dyed jeans that usually cost around 50,000 yen if the real tannin dying proccess in used. The fabric looks very similar and they may use real persimmon juice for the color, but I don't think it is dyed in the traditional Japanese kaki-shibu way.

So if you're going for the real thing, it's going to be expensive.

I work at an elementary school and I got them so I could wear jeans that would not look so much like jeans. I wear them three days a week or so to work and my khakis were retired. They are showing signs of wears after many months and I'm excited about how they will fade later on.

I've been messing around with physical lighting without digitally editting the pictures or using a flash. So it's just a lamp shined on the picture area. As requested:

I had a pen explode in my right pocket and I tried to get it out with alcohol, nail polish remover, and getting these pants dry cleaned. Needless to say, I'm living with the stain.

Japan is the only place that I can think of that currently has any. So a visit to Japan, or proxy involving rakuten stores or some other shop

A 29 with arcs: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/vintage/726391/726428/735585/#786366

Everything but 29 without arcs: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/vintage/726391/726428/744617/#798443

That's like $125 in Japan.

~$20 proxy fee + ~$25 for shipping. Around $170-175 shipped..

sorry for the secretive-ness, but i was having issues getting them and i didnt want to jinx myself any more, god i waited like 3 weeks and change for these, but well worth it.

1001101qa4.th.jpg

god they are so insanely slubby, and really stiff

ok so here is my story i am really obsesive about things so i told myself i would find the original hand dyed persimmon eternals, after a while of searching i found a pair and at a steep discount. instead of 40000 yen i only paid about 20000.

since my pics suck i will provide a link, there is actually 1 pair left.

now im gonna go crosspost like crazy.

how have they turned out so far?

They have faded little so far. I have not been afraid to wash them. In fact I have washed them with the intention of toning down the over all color a bit, so that they would be a little more "beige" and a bit less brown. Despite just throwing them in the washer ( blasphemous. I know), I have some early wallet fade and wiskering, but the overall color has changed littfle . This is very much unlike washing indigo jeans.

Having a pair of jeans that actually feel clean more often is a real treat!

hey 386, would you mind posting up the measurements for the waist pre/post wash on those persimmon canes? thanks!

p.s. are those 40's of ol' e on your dresser in the background? haha

Late all be it, but here goes.

Sugar Cane SC40285 one-wash size 30x34

Measured BiG style

http://blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=41

waist: 16in 40.6cm

front rise: 11in 28cm

rear rise: 16.25in 43.3cm

thigh: 12.4in 31.5cm

knee: 8.8in 22.4cm

leg opening: 8.3in 21cm

inseam: 33.6in 85.5cm

These have been washed twice and air dryed (to try to get that horrid pen stain out) and worn enough after the washing to stretch out.

p.s. Of course those are some fourties of that goodness!

wow....almost a 2 year bump....

has anyone seen these.....I'm interested

Jeans: D2 - Persimmon

D2 is the relaxed fit for men. High back rise, normal front rise, and full legs that narrow to the hem. Button fly. The D2 is for denim enthusiasts particular about details, materials, and quality. As you where them, the light japanese persimmon dyed selvage denim (Kojima Japan) will grow darker in color which will create a very unique look. The wear process is totally the opposite from a regular denim, which fades lighter. D2 Persimmon wears dark instead.

Resurrecting this thread in hopes that someone may have a lead on some NOS or lightly-used persimmon-dyed jeans. Sugar Cane's 1947 cut fits me well in sizes 32 through 34, and I'm happy with any fit similar to this. I've been scourging eBay and Yahoo Auctions for a while now hoping for something to pop up, but I've had no such luck, so I'm turning to you! Any ideas of where else I might search would be greatly appreciated.
