I would like to figure out which factories in Japan produce the highest quality denim and maybe even the specific process they endure to create there farbic. I would really appreciate everyone's suggestions. Especially serge d nimes and ringring the denim aficionados.

I don't know much about denim processing, that is ring ring and some other's department. I have a coule of jeans with Kurabo denim and I like them very much. Both my pairs seem to have light weight, maybe 11 oz, selvage. I am pretty sure the ones in the pic below are Kurabo.

Those are the sites of 3 of the big textile companies in Japan. Fabric production is a huge topic, with each process being complex and varied.

Basically to make fabric you have to;

Procure all the ingredients

Spin the yarn

Dye the yarn

Weave the fabric

Finish the fabric

Each process will vary according to type of fabric, and there will be multiple QC processes along the way. If you can get a tour around a denim mill then that's probably the easiet way to see how it's done.

Thank you very much Serge D Nimes and Ringring I am very thankful for your posting because I think you two are probably the most educated about the denim game on Superfuture. If there are any other opinions about this topic please post because I would really appreciate the information.

You may find some sites with photos of the fabric making process, which may be of interest to you. Have a google around.

For example TRC's site: http://www.trccandiani.com

An Italian mill, not Japanese, but you'll get an idea. Incidentally, they have also bought a lot of new shuttle looms (telai a navetta - literally 'little boat looms') recently. So expect more Italian selvedge denim in the shops next year.

I'm not sure if your question is about the fabric only, or if you are interested in the production of jeans in general. In which case, fabric is just one half of the equasion. After that, there's sewing (relatively easy) and washing (often very complicated!)

Here's a link to a Japanese jeans maker - there's lots of pics of the sewing process.

I think there was a movie on http://www.nudiejeans.com/, that also showed some of the jeans making process, including wash.
