god i need new music

Recommended Posts

i've struggled to find new music lately. it seems like all of the cds ive downloaded recently have sucked or just arent that good. Heres my list for that last week and a half (mostly recommendations from friends and just torrents that i saw that were well seeded):

Common - Finding Forever <<< I liked it, but its kinda slow to listen to it and idk but its good

Blockhead - Music by Cavelight <<< good but too instrumental-ey

Slightly Stoopid - Chronichitis <<< only like 2 or 3 good songs, the rest were pretty trash

Lily Allen - Allright Still <<< it was allright, kinda chickish but my itunes kinda lags for some reason when it plays so i cant listen to it much cuz it annoys me

Mac Dre - Heart of a Gangsta, Mind of a Hustler, Tongue of a Pimp <<< didnt like it, most of the songs seemed stupid, and not the hyphy way

Arctic Monkeys - Favorite Worst Nightmare <<< liked it, the only cd ive been constantly listening to of the ones here

as you can see, i've been all over the place and i still cant find anything i like. And i still need to get This Harness Can't Ride Anything by Chin Up Chin Up, so if anyone has it and is willing to megaupload it or something of that nature, hit me up with a pm, ill rep you every chance i can for the rest of my life, i promise haha

I'll keep lookin around the 'culture, but if anyone has any good recommendations, please recommend =)

I quite enjoyed the album of Cansei de ser Sexy (CSS), altho they don't know how to speak English, their music is really funky! Check them on youtube, I reccomend the songs 'Alala' and 'let's make love'

Oh, and not to forget, M.I.A.'s Kala! It's great! You only need to give it a few listens to get used to it.

BOAT - Let's Drag Our Feet

This one was good, but I thought their first album, Songs You Might Not Like, was much better.

And that Chin Up Chin Up album is real solid. Worth hunting down.

Doesn't seem people are recommending too much rap. Kind of older, but maybe you would like Brotha Lynch Hung. Download the songs Black Market and Locc 2 Da Brain if you can find them. Fully some on-form material.

Good luck finding more stuff you like. I hope this was moderately helpful.

earlimart - mentor tormentor

As much as I want to like this album, I can't... It sucks. Treble and Tremble is mmmuuchhhhh better.

This one was good, but I thought their first album, Songs You Might Not Like, was much better.

Indeed, I think Songs You Might Not Like is at least 10x better... But I was trying to keep it to 2007 albums only.

NUMBER ONE! Listen to the Enemy (listed later) since you enjoy The Arctic Monkeys.

I'll try and give you something new that Diamonds hasn't already said.

Also, since you probably don't have OODLES of time, I'll try and give you some good songs to start. You can search these songs on HypeM.com and try them out to maximize your music listening efficiency.

2007 wasn't actually so bad for some music...

Most of this stuff falls somewhere between decent and awesome, IMO, but then you've got Mother Mother in there and they're hands-down the worst band I've seen all year.

Lots of recs in this thread already, but here's some new stuff I've been jazzed on lately:

M.I.A. - kala

Fog - ditherer

Gallows - orchestra of wolves

Fiery Furnaces - widow city

Sunburned Hand of the Man - fire escape

Plus the new Black Lips (extra double plus good!), Aesop Rock and Spoon albums which I already saw rec'ed further up. uncanny, I agree: Panda Bear's solo disc is as good as the 'Fork says.

I have a blog that is half-assed and only periodically updated, but it's mostly about music. Happy downloading!
