I have two matt brushed stainless Jieldes that I had made up from restored parts by a woman in France ... they were cheaper than buying brand new, they look a milion times better then the plastic shiny modern versions, have history of their own and they're made to my specs - ceramic bulb units, number and postion of switches, number of arms, etc.

She was a dream to deal with and I'll happily get you her contact details if you want.

I really like the look & history of the jieldes lamps...but I'm a dork for LED & technology. :o

I'm pretty sure there are lots of posters that are into different areas of design beside fashion, either from a professional or enlightened amateur standpoint.

I like my current lamp though, does she do other stuff like standing lamps? I might be very interested...

yeah you're right. I just forget that sometimes under a deluge of vacuous shit ( that I contribute to as well)

She only restores Jielde .... but she'll build and finish them to your specs, and if your specs involves parts she doesn't have - as mine did - she'll either pull them in from other dealers at no extra cost or you can wait until they show up in the natural scheme of things.

like I say I had two made up - one five arm and one four, both of mixed lengths 30 and 40 cm I believe. She charges for the specific parts she uses so you can ask for specific builds and request details and she'll come up with them - some people like

the dents left in them or the previous paint job subtly referenced ...

Interesting enough she also provided me with photos of the parts she used in their before and after state - mine were burned black, dented and rusty from years of industrial use, yet when I received them they were pristine. Perfectly restored.

it comes in a table height as well as a floor one, but at half a meter it might still be a much for an actual desk, maybe better for a side table or something.

The Artemide lamps are nice, way over priced though and I'm not a big fan of halogen. I'm of I'm thinking about picking one of these up for desk :

The artemide light I listed at the top of the page is LED, not halogen (if that was the light you were referring to)

New, the lamps are from $300/350ish to $1500ish.

I know, I'm just wondering about the reworked lamps. It could possibly be more expensive depending on the specs you want but what a great look!!
