Creating Perfect Denim

ttcontest

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I just ordered too much denim (500m) from a small mill (quality was incredible and comparable to Japanese and Italian selvage). My problem is that I now need to get the necessary sewing equipment. Can you recommend a good sewing machine (preferably twin needle). I haven't sewn in ages, used to make my own jeans in the 90s.

Thanks,

TT

Jebus. . .

Haha Jebus. I saw that episode of the simpsons the other day where Homer gets sent to the peace corp in the South Pacific, and says Jebus all the way there.....then he licks toads and gets high....and his pupils go all big.....best episide ever.

500 yards...thats alot of denim you got there.

Man...that's a LOTTA denim, bro...a WHOLE lot! How/where do you store all that??

In terms of space, it isn't that much denim... It would fit on one side of a persons closet.

100 yards on a roll is about 5' tall and 1.5' in diameter, the detail is in the weight

I recommend the Shark Intelli-Sew, its a nice digital machine in the neighborhood of $300, and also consider the value of a quality steam-iron since you'll be doing quite a bit of pressing with the denim and most other materials.

Good luck with the perfect pair, or perfect 150 pairs...

to make a "perfect" pair, you need more than one machine. also, a regular sewing machine is gonna give you a lot of problems when you try to sew through several layers of denim with heavy thread. you're gonna need access to a chainstitcher and a good heavy duty single needle. don't need a double needle, it's not necessary. good luck.
