What's Hip?

Just pickup the latest Japanese Men's Magazine if you want inspiration. They're crazy about anything from Dior Homme, Raf Simmons, Neighborhood, slim belts, vintage boots, collaboration sneakers. My Japanese friends in New York rock colored tight pants (green, pink , red) with trainers. I think they are the most confident people in fashion. If you feel their style ..go for it!

What's hip? Not caring about the labels or "trends" but cultivating your own style. Realizing that at the end of the day, a t-shirt with a silk-screened logo isn't worth $60-$100 no matter how "hype" the camo-primate design is. Realizing that true style isn't about "what you wear, "but "how you wear it." That's hip...

djrajio pretty much summed it up for me. Trends start because someone discovers something that looks good on them and when people see the confidence, they think "That something must be the new style" and they go run off buying it and eventually, everyone else does while neglecting the fact that, that something might not look good on everyone. As old as it sounds, wear what compliments your body type and personality and not "the hottest thing". When people start seeing your individual style, you will get more comments on that approach than copying trends. Make your own trends! What's hip or stylish on you may not be hip for others and what's "hip" right now might not be hip for you.

there have been some great articles on handsblue.com under the "dickybluejeans" section that really hit a lot of the areas regarding developing your own individual style

right now theres one up about indigo dying at home and the wonderful pieces you can create from even plain white shirts you buy from walmart!!?

some of my best finds have been at those 5 for 10 tshirt stores--- i always keep a supply of plain brown, dk yellow, tan, white, etc
