One-off light weight LVC 1947!!!!!

Holy crap, look what I found today! They are brand new 1947 LVC with the WRONG SELVAGE DENIM! It looks to have 10-12 oz selvage instead! These weigh 735.5g and a DS pair of correct 47's I have in the same size weigh 862.6g. It looks like they were rinsed and then put on a form for a distress treatment (because of the creases) when the operator noticed they were made with incorrect denim. Also, the leather tag does not have a size stamp and the jean maker put their initials on the flip side of the pocket, which makes me think they were done on purpose. The same season has some 1901 jeans in it, so I am thinking this is that denim. Oh, and I got these from a Levis outlet store!

My 1901s didn't have a selvage line. If so you do have a cool pair of RARE levis. Man that stuff on the 1901s ROCKS thought not correct for 47s is still very cool indeed.

I have made probably $3000 off of scoring jeans from outlets and flogging them on ebay over the past 7 years. I can feel it in my bones when they have something! speaking of, anyone need any distressed LVC 606 or 646 for $29.99 + shippping?

airfrogusmc: I am pretty sure that they posted denim weight for all vintage jeans was based on dry stock.

yeah the turn-of-the-century levi's were all lightweight, weren't they? starting from the 1886s--so it moved to 10oz. in the late 20s, and then 14oz. a decade or so after?

serge - got a link/photos? not sure about the word distressed but would be good to have a look...

According to Lynn Downey the 33s were 10 oz.

They first went to 12 oz then to 14 oz on their sanfortized in the 50s.

Wow! That's like finding a misprinted stamp. Keep this for 20 years then sell it back to Levi's for $50K.

Congrats! You seem to have all the luck in finding rare stuff!

That's only really if he wears it out pretty damn well.

Otherwise if it's a fresh pair... well they can make a fresh pair easily, can't they?
