When sellers charge too much for shipping

You should've asked about shipping before you bid.. Ebay sellers can charge basically whatever they want for shipping if it's not properly listed. Plus your bid is a binding contract so eBay can't really do anything unless he stated that the shipping price was different in the auction.

eBay has " a law against " excessive shipping costs .. Contact ebay about it they will do something about it in your favor - and then afterwards expect the seller to not send your item in the proper condition ..

Yea, ebay has been trying to crack down on these kinds of people lately. If you report it to ebay i'm sure they'd help you, even though it's a binding contract and stuff. You could try emailing the seller explaining this and then tell him to let it go and you won't get ebay involved. You two could try to make an agreement to part ways and not give eachother negative feedback and stuff.

alot of sellers don't list shipping on the basis that shipping to different places cost different moneys.

but if someone tried to charge me 40 shipping for such a distance, i'd be fuckin pissed.

If they don't mention how much something is, and you need that something, and you agree to buy it anyway, it's your mistake for not asking. Its like saying "hi this is the winner of your listing. Oh by the way can you throw in a fat gold rope? OH what? You charge $600 for that? FUCKK market rate is $575 around here, why so jew????".

still have no sympathy for you. click on the messag button and ask.

and lastly, I dunno where you ship to but $30 plus is completely reasonable for intl shipping, depending on the circumstances. Example, EMS costs $32.00, I don't sell that much so I might go out to office depot and buy a crispy, secure shipping box for you for $2 (I have done this more than once). I gotta go to the post office to fill out that damn customs form, so theres another 30 minutes I will never get back. And on top of that the risk of international fraud is simply higher. You telling me that $40 is unreasonable? eff you pay me

yeah, but i've complained not so long ago to Ebay and i was told that the seller can also charge a reasonable charge for "handling" and they didn't really have any policy for what was reasonable. it's something that also really piss me off, as most US seller will charge like 2, 3 times more to ship to Canada even though the difference is very small. you can also leave a negative feedback, but it can be dangerous is the seller has not given your feedback yet...

Like i said, a lot of sellers will just let it go if you both agree not to give negative feedback.

i'll say this again and again. At least the way i send EMS only, the price difference between say Canada and England is close to nothing. I don't send global priority anymore because of paypal's fucking raping the sellers....

i understand if you are using EMS, but at least 95% of all seller will use USPS (or UPS or FEDEX, but i boycott these fuckers because of brokerage fee), and the difference between domestic and canadian rates is not very big. it's annoying when you get your item, and you realize you paid twice or more in shipping than the actual postage. this has happened to me countless times.

International shipping that's 30 dollars is fine. But forty dollars shipping within the EU in unquestionably ridiculous. Economically and travel-wise, the countries of Europe are equivalant to the U.S.'s states. It cost the seller five to twenty dollars maximum to ship.

Its not a question of messaging the seller, its a question of reasonable cost. If it cost the seller fifteen dollars, the maximum acceptable s+h would be 20,25 dollars. What if you're paying your phone bill and they add on a 40 dollar fee?

and you know this how?

shipping from my country (in the EU) to another EU country for pair of jeans via EMS is up €25 depending on the weight. thats $35, add handling, packaging, paypal fees etc and I dont think $40 really is that much.

in regards of the original question, go to the web page of the swedish postal service and fidn out how much its costs to ship to you. if its much less than he is charging, e-mail him about it and tell him you checked it. if its close to what hes asking you to pay, then theres not much you can do - you should've asked in advance.

you can always ask for a cheaper option, if he is a reasonable seller he can do that. I'm pretty sure that there has to be a cheaper option if its within the EU, in that sense you're right. but if the seller wants to ship with tracking EMS might be the only option.

Oh, you win then. My mistake.

No idea shipping was so expensive elsewere. It costs me around ten dollars to ship a few books using USPS in the U.S., and they weigh alot more than denim.

For us, even overnight shipping is only thirty dollars with DHL for jeans [at least this is BiG's price]

If he's getting next day shipping, then 40 isn't expensive.
