skecr8r,

are you sure all of fiberops denim lines are selvage? some of the jeans that i see are triple-stitched on the outseam, they cant possibly be selvage, or no?

and yes, i believe neighborhood uses selvage for some of their denims.

for example

japanese street brands are the real shit man, quality plus styling! comes with heavy price tag though icon_smile_sad.gif

i have a pair of fiberops jeans - they are selvedge. however, i've noticed that most of their jeans are NOT selvedge... (or if they are, they don't have the finished edge)

strange highs and strange lows

jacky, got a email from capsule in markham a week ago. They just got the shippment from Montage, also X-girl and Sarcastic.

Here is the link of the pics from capsule mailing list, http://www.capsulefootwear.com/news/apr2905_1.html

copped 2 montage t shirts there and had a nice conversation with the owner, i was told that those 3 brands are directly from japan, capsule is the authorized dealer and the only one in ontario. Its the great news for TO :)

I have a pair of Fiberops and they are both good quality and selvage. And yes, they are japanese. You can easily go with a pair if you're into simple jeans.

Most of the Fibreops I've seen have been anything but simple. Made in China, funky cuts and funky washes. Pretty cool stuff.

thanks for the advice people. i've been reading supertalk for quite some time. i must say that this forum has really got me thinking as to whether the denim i buy is really worth it.

i know that the bulk of it goes to the branding, but i at least want some effort put into it.

i'm looking for some selvage jeans from japanese denim, thinking maybe unwashed.

I'm from Singapore. i dont really think thats much choices over here for quality denim for men.

i'm currently looking for an unwashed denim.

It would be good if someone put pictures of the difference between selvage/non-selvage/ring spun stuff like that. i've tried to see and i dont quite understand. I think my brother's Ralph Lauren Hayden relaxed fit is selvage. can someone confirm on it?

look at the bottom right picture on the link that i gave you, that's selvage seam. non-selvage seams are either felled or have that fraying ends.

if you want more detailed explanation about those terms, you're better off using the search button, there's one excellent thread on selvedge here.

These are all good jeans. You should also definitely be able to hook up with something in Singapore, afaik there is a lot of vintage denim over there.

thanks for all the info, i think i'm slightly clearer about whats going on.

there are quite a number of vintage shops here stocked with lod lee, levis, edwin and stuff, but i dont think i want to search for them. most of them are cheap, but i'm afraid i might end up with fakes. especially with levis cos i cant really tell, despite reading up on it over here.

i can spot why, but i have no idea about the dates. think i'll stick to current stuff. Btw, can someone tell me what is afaik ???

magicclean, i'm having a holiday in singapore right now. if you are referring to the fiberops and montage that are sold at sidewalks at far east, i just checked them out recently. only one of the fiberops they have is selvage. the rest arent. but even the selvage one is not that nice. as for the montage i didnt bother to take a look, the styling didnt appeal to me. speaking about denim in singapore, i found a vintage store here that sells all the vintage denims, they have some lees, omnigods, fullcounts, wranglers, levi's. the price is a bit steep though, i think you have to fork about SGD399 for the omnigod...
