Anyone got pics of a pair of used 517s?

I was thinking about getting one of these for fun because they seem to be so sheap for a pair of dry jeans. Anyway, I was curious how they fit and wear. Anyine got any pics of a well worn pair or any comments on the jeans?

I have a pair that i was wearing for awhile but i began to really hate the bootcut.

I've worn two pairs for two summers respectively while do ironwork and installing said ironwork. This was a dirty job that put quite a bit of stress on the jeans, which I was happy about because my purpose in buying them was to see what kind of fades I could get out of them.

The fades are not really that impressive considering the abuse that they were put through. I got some whiskering, lots of thigh fading, some interesting wrinkling effects where my jeans stacked over my boots, but no honeycombs at all. The butt/wallet fades look pretty good. In fact, overall they look similar to the ones that cultpop posted and which were linked by Ahlvahroe, but less defined--pretty blah really.

I have seen some good fading on Levi's Red Tab jeans, but I've seen better fades on most of the other jeans we discuss and buy here on SF. On the other hand, I've seen some of the SF jeans turn out really boring as well, so I guess it's all in how you wear them.

If I had to choose, I would get the 517's as an inexpensive raw jean for doing my dirty work in and as a project jean in that sense. I spend too much on the Japanese shit to get them all oily and ripped. Contradictory to my purpose of getting good fades? Maybe, but whatever.

I'd post pics, but the jeans are at my parent's house. If I get there sometime soon I'll throw some pictures up.

thanks for the reply. i wouldn't have these as my primary pair. forget about the price, I would much raher invest my time in a good japanese denim and cut. though it mught be interesting as a side project though

try them. you never know how they'll turn out. you might put some samurais to shame

i had this saved in my bookmarks. i'm not sure if there are any real 517's but there are def a lot of repro's by japanese companies.

either get some deadstock 70s orangetabs or get the sugarcane rodeoman bootcut, which is a repro of 517. the new levis denim is garbage.
