Anyone own these beauties? I know ddml does and he's graciously shared pics. I'm looking for final size advice. I'd say my true waist is somewhere between a 31 and a 32 (I wear a 32 in dress pants but pretty much have to wear a belt) and I'm thinking about getting the 31 and cold-soaking them. I like to wear my jeans on my hips so I'm assuming I'll be able to stretch these out, but I'd like to hear other peoples' experiences with them. I really pumped to get them and I want to get the size right the first time, so any help is appreciated.

I've got a pair too - beautiful jeans, you've got to be careful when wearing them though - you'll spend so much time looking down at the many different hues in the denim that you'll walk into things.

I'm a 33/34 and got mine in 33 . They've stretched about inch and quarter in 2 months so i'm wearing them with a belt which is fine by me. I'd say getting a 31 sounds about right for you.

Mod - you might wanna move this into the Sugarcane thread?

These are a really really beautiful pair of jeans. Check the early pages of the Sugarcane thread where Ringring drops some knowledge. When I read about the hand felled seams I didn;t really get it till I saw it in person and suddenly I could totally see how these are a labour of love, a total bargain at Yen31,290 if not astonishing considering that things like the Jomon exist. Can you tell I love these?

Based on all the info I've read here, my advice would be to use a tailors tape and measure where you want to wear them then go down 1 or 2 from that. By all accounts the denim is stretchy. Oh and my other tip would be to pick carefully where you order from, since August 06 canes don't feature the arcs so if you shop from a store with some old stock left over *cough* Hinoya *cough* then you can snag some arcs n' all. :)

*edit* these are quite a high rise cut so my advice which you might choose to put in the dustbin would be not to intend to wear them too low. About an inch under your belly button looks amazing. Sagged heavily I suspect the seat will poof out something awful and you'll probably also get some unflattering hip flare to boot. If you wanna wear low I wouldn;t recommend you pick this cut. My 2p's.

Man SC is so stupid.. I wish they would include longer inseams.. Id need a 26 but the length is 30 which is too short :(

I could size up to 28 x 32 and wear them on my hips but then these are non wash right? So Id have to soak and then they shrink in the inseam? Not very promising

The Edo Ai's are also fully hand felled like the hawaii's. They're amazing too. The fabric seems to be exactly the same, even down to the striations, just the colour and cut is different. The Edo's are slightly relaxed and are tagged generously, they're not quite true to tag.

How does the rise on these compare to other jeans? Mainly SD-101 (which I know alot of people on here don't have)... I decided I might pick up a pair of these since theyll probably never be made again, but to get a 27 waist, the length is about 31.5 inches which could potentially be too short... I dont know. I know if they were low rise, I could swing it and they would sit lower, but since its a high rise (from what Ive read), it might be really risky. I aska bout SD-101 cause they are higher rise (than SD-103 anyways), and some how I could go with 31 inseam and they have a bit of perfect extra length to them, which is weird (weird, cause my Dry Bones are higher rise and the length is 32..) I just dont wanna spend $330 on a pair of jeans that I cant even try on to find out they are too short and Im screwed. Can anyone shed any light on this?

The SD 101 has a front rise of around 11.5 inches (on size 32), the Cane's have a rise of about a quarter of an inch shorter. The Hawaii's have also less of a hip bulge than the Pigs. If you're referring to the Guitar Wolf jeans by Dry Bones, then as a comparison, they have a front rise of around 10 and a quarter inches and are slightly looser in the legs than the Hawaiis.

  • 1 month later...
listened to your advice and sized down one. so i got a 30.

sorry i cant take pictures of the fit right now cause i dont have a camera yet that will allow me too.

Hey quick question for you - do you think you could've sized down 2? It seems like there is quite a bit of stretch to these jeans and since they are fairly high rise, sizing down 2 might possibly work out.
