y'all a bunch of lames.

hey other dj's, anyone incorporating some interesting intros into their mixes?

im trying to polish a few of my potentials. been fucking around with nas' "hate me now", its got that powerful dramatic classical joint that aoki opened up with in his essential, only with diddy in the background yelling some dont fuck with us motherfucka type shit. i just hit a loop on the chorus and fuck with the pitch, try to bring in boys noize's teenage bad girl remix. as soon as i get something recorded ill throw it up.

intros? good luck getting a gig where anyone will actually care or hear it... my "intro" consists of about 2 hours of overplayed bangers from last year to get all of the CWG's from the top40/hiphop room into my room

then i continue to blast incredible shit at them while i stand and wonder how anyone is still alive and not dancing

I cut up a loopy star wars intro. it's like the main blockade runner theme playing until it loops, then i can play with effects on it for a moment before mixing something into the now at 130ish bpm loop. sooooo much fun.

but i stole it from the bloody beetroots who i've heard do the godfather intro and loop it into a song. they probably stole it too.

anyone posting in this thread from atlanta? the dj(s) at mjq on wednesday nights are pretty legit. good mixes of boys noize, le castle vania, crookers, twelves etc. im generally too housed to try and catch up with them at the end of the night but figured someone on here might know some of them/be some of them.

its the bubble of your own taste you have to step out of when you're not that famous of a dj. later on when you get recognized for your style/selection in music you can play whatever you like.

no shit, i don't enjoy playing yearold bangers but its the only CWG appealing thing next to trance i can play, because i am usually the guy who is being paid to play four on the floor shit while they have another guy playing top 40 in the next room

don't really like playing a lot of blog house. if i could i would play really subby minimal techno all night. but nooone here wants to hear that

ha, i went to a loft party in SF where it was only minimalist techno, party went till like 6 in the morning, it was quite enjoyable after a night of maximal electro

people have to be in the right mindset to dance to it though and are like actually forced to think a little about music. i saw these fuckin clubed out azn chicks in there in their ho dresses and they looked good, but when they were on the dance floor, they were just standing not even dancing taking pictures of each other. i seriously wanted to go david carradine on their asses

I'd actually love to hear this if you have it recorded at all. I've been looking more and more into basic cutting up of non-edm songs lately and making them mixable and it's REALLY fun.

However, I'm starting to feel that my creativity is starting to get limited by the gear I have (techs running serato) actually, and I'm looking into what I should get to open new avenues. Can anyone recommend anything?

I was briefly considering Ableton, but I'm unwilling to crack it and I am just not able to spend $600 on it at this point in time.
