alternatives to expensive rugs?

kind of a strange topic, i know, but my wood floors need a little something.

for a little while i was using astroturf from the hardware store, and it looked pretty dope, but it traps every little piece of hair, dust, etc.

is there anything besides 2-300$ carpets that would spruce up the room a little bit?

Go to a carpet store and buy some remnants, a lot of time you can even get them for free.

get some carpet tape, square off the remnant and bind the edges using the carpet tape. viola' instant rug.

My house is all hardwood and I put this in my office/tv room. The one I got is some sort of natural material, but there are all sorts of colors, textures, patterns to choose from. You can pretty much make a carpet to fit any size and the cool thing is if you spill on it, you can just pick up that square and wash it off in the tub. The prices vary, but to give you an idea of cost, my office is about 10 x 12 feet and I think I spent around $400, with a more expensive carpet choice and several extra squares.

when i was living in halls of residence (dorms) when i was at university,

during the easter holidays, we threw some water under his door and some grass seeds

when he returned, he was greeted to a nice little garden on his carpet

wont work onm wooden floors though
