Giving old denim a second chance

What are somethings that can be done with old pairs of jeans??

I have two pairs of tsubi that i never wear anymore but want to give them a new life! I was thinking of trying to give one pair a wax coating. Any ideas on how to do this?

What other ideas do you guys have...? Photo's of any creations could be nice.

That jacket looks great. I think i will wax the navy overdyed pair - however i might search for some other methods as i dont have a heat gun. Hair dryer perhaps? I dont think that would get hot enough.

I was thinking about cutting down the grey pair i have - is it summer over here after all - but was hoping to do something slightly more creative.

how about turning them into shorts?

Yeah i was thinking about it, i might do it to one pair but i need a new pair of normal jeans at the moment and instead of buying some i would rather reinvent an existing pair that i no longer wear.

And like i said previously I would rather do something more creative then just cutting them down.

you could always try experimenting with an overdye or go for a pair of silver jeans (http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=15720)

That could be an idea. These jeans are far from raw though. Daily wear and fortnightly washing have made these really soft and what i would imagine way more porous so I don't know if it would work.

I think I probably could pull them off but I don't know if my girlfriend would let me leave the house wearing them... mostly in fear of attracting boys.

Probably not quite as bad as the hologram sparkle Dior's she wouldnt let me get which in reflection was probably a wise move.

One of the pairs are grey dee dees and have some pretty decent holes. Was thinking of patching them from the inside with some paisley shirting fabric or something similar.

Might do this first - keep them for a while - then change them up again when i get bored.

any other patching ideas?? I'm not too keen on denim on denim patches.

You don't like grey dee dee's? I guess we must see them in Sydney a lot, but I don't mind them too much...

I loved them when I got them and i still like them, I've just been rocking them for aaaages and the size of the holes are getting obsurd especially in the rear and I have stopped wearing them since getting a pair of dry A.P.C and Nudie.

The other pair are navy joeys.

One thing I have never really seen on Superfuture is any really good patched jeans, which I am quite surprised at and would really like to see a really well worn and patched pairs.

Well, I wanted to post this pair since I joined, I really love it! It's not really 'good' patched, but it turned out nicely, I think. And before anyone asks: YEAH, that's not really natural wear, I fucking sandpapered it, I admit it, GODDAMNIT! Shame on me...

2 questions...

1. wtf are those?

2. did you sandpaper it from the begining or did you just sandpaper the patches to make em blend in?

These are some baggy-cut Levi's (I guess the cut is called 523?) I bought one-wash.

I started to sandpaper them after sometime because, well, I was into all that destroyed denim shit... I removed all patches, the arcurate etc. This was a long process tho, I didn't do it all at once.

I wore them as my main jeans and as I couldn't afford anything else at that time, they got REALLY destroyed, I wasn't really going for that, to be honest.

The color faded even more, the backpocket literally fell off, the crotch ripped and all those tiny holes started to get too fucking big, so recently I had a tailor stitch those retarded iron-on patches because I didn't wanna throw them away...

But eventually this pair got me into raw denim because I realized that the more you go through with a pair of jeans the more you get attached to it...

i think tony_hige has posted photos of his old and patched jeans, and he has mentioned he gets alot of requests from friends to do patch-jobs for their jeans that have blown a hole.

something i have wanted to try for ages is to make a heck load of coffee and then soaking your worn out jeans for some hours.. i would think the effect would be coolest with really dark and strong coffee...

they're gonna reek, but maybe theyll turn out nice..

Interesting... i dont think that will work with the jeans I've got though. Anyone else out there want to try? I'm curious of the results...

I've been meaning to head down to the local thrift store to pick up a nice plaid flannel shirt to use as material for patching my crotch and back right pocket on my justins. i figure a heavy flannel will put up with abuse for longer then some nicer printed but thinner fabrics.
