i did a searched and RingRing mentioned that its simply what the word means "denim woven in Japan" but i always noticed that Japanese denim had its authentic deep blue contrast...so what precisely are denim makers trying to refer to when they talk about japanese denim aside from a marketting thing? thanks :)

What makes a Japanese blue more "authentic" than a deep blue from Italy, USA, Spain, Turkey, China etc?

Japanese denim is simply denim woven in Japan. It can come in many different shades and qualities. The term "Japanese Denim" is often bandied around as synonymous with high quality, much like people do when they say "German cars".

Japan produces a lot of beautiful high quality denims, but not all high quality denims are Japanese, and nor are all Japanese denims of exceptional quality. Just like Heidi Klum and Claudia Schiffer do not represent all German women icon_smile_wink.gif
