How to get dead carcass smell off of leather?

On a holiday to morocco my girlfriend got a real nice leather satchel. Its made by Berbers and is absolute quality. Thick leather, woven (not stitched) edges, and rivets for strength. Only bad thing is it stinks like all the other leather from the Souks.

How can I minimize, if not neutralize, the nasty beef jerky/decaying skin smell from this beautiful leather bag?

We havent tried anything yet, I thought Id go to my number one resource first.

so glad you created this thread. i was wondering the same thing. my vintage belt is emitting some strange, deep funk. would fabrize still work? or do i need to bake my leather goods in the sun?

Wearing your goods outside for a few months seems to be the only way. Or just put them outside for a few weeks in the winter cold.

A good rubbing with some leather conditioner may reduce some of the stench.
