PS3 @ Walmart for cheap(er)?

If I remember correctly, there used to be some scam where you could print out a replacement barcode online for a place like walmart and make the price whatever you wanted...

Hmm, I think that's similar to what some people do to get spraypaint at walmart, replacing rusto cans' barcode with walmart ones or someting like that. I really doubt that'd work with the PS3.

Another clever one I saw was getting a microwave in Wal-Mart (it'd be in a box) and fill the microwave with shit you want, put it back in the box and buy the microwave. And return it later if you want.

I wouldn't be surprised if WalMart sells the 20GB for $299 to compete with the Xbox 360, I'm sure it will be striped down as much as possible though. The 60GB should be more towards $499 or so (I think).

i can't see how it would be only $299. sony announced the base model for $499 so even if wall-mart takes a hit i don't see it going down to $399 till spring of next year.

Yea, I just found this, and Polishmike, you seem to be right on.

How much will the PlayStation 3 cost, and what configurations will be available?

There will be two different SKUs for the PlayStation 3. The "high-end" version will contain WiFi, various flash memory inputs (like Memory Stick and SD) and a 60GB hard drive while the cheaper version will include a 20GB hard drive. Here's a breakdown of the system prices for each territory/country:

Region 20GB System 60GB System

Japan 59800Â¥ Open Market

USA $499 $599

Canada $549 $659

Europe €499 €599
