I agree, like a totally different product when they changed, although I still like DS 501, but the SS would have to be my preference, esp. big E, the denim seems even better on Big E than SS IMO.

Only just seen this, and only had a quick look, but Serge is right, these must be repros. Most of the features are pre 1971, and I'm certain 555 wasn't used as a code at that time, as Serge says.

For a definitive answer, it's worth searching here for the thread on the Capital E reissues - i looked up the date for these at the time. They had a mix of 50s, 60s and 70s features and sound like these, but I haven't checked properly.

(Oh, and making wine must count alongside making jeans as one of the industries that makes our little planet a better place...)
